Chapter 24

"He got the jewel too," Kagome confessed.
"What?!" Inuyasha yelled outraged. I shake my head and began to walk ahead of them. After we asked the monk to explain himself something from his right hand began to suck me and Inuyasha in but he stopped in time making me fall off the side of the cliff and Inuyasha smash into the side. Once I got back that's the first thing I hear.
"So troublesome," I muttered to myself.
"I'll say," Shippo added from my shoulder.

I smiled as I rubbed his head and continued walking ahead until we made it into a village. Everyone gasped and muttered as I walked past but it only got louder as I heard Inuyasha running up behind me. Shouting things as he zipped past me.
"Hurry it up loser!" He shouted causing me to scoff, "I'm taking my time thank you very much. I don't run unless I have to and in this case, I'm not being attacked or chased so no thanks."

Once I caught up with them further in town I instantly doubled over and burst with laughter.
"You really are a dog!" I exclaimed making myself laugh even harder. Inuyasha was on all fours sniffing the ground like a hound dog.
"Oh shut it fox. You're like a dog too!" he argued causing me to laugh even more. He's embarrassed!
"I'm a fox which is still different Inubaka." I continued to laugh making him scowl.

Finally, I helped in catching his scent. Seems my nose is a lot better than his since I located where it's strongest.
"Inuyasha he's over this way," I informed.
"Are you sure? You haven't been a demon long and so you aren't used to tracking and-"
"My bike!" Kagome cut him off thankfully. I gave him a smug look causing him to glare.

He stomped into the building with no hesitation.
"Please don't make a mess of things that I will have to clean up," I whispered to myself but once I entered they were already gone.
"You've got to be kidding me! I can't even catch-"
"It's a demon!" one of the girls in the room shouted. I quirked my eyebrow. You gotta be kidding me. I look harmless! I looked the girl dead in the eyes and raised my hands into an "attack" pose, "boo! I'm gonna eat you rawr." I sarcastically replied. The girls screamed causing me to laugh.

"You all should've seen your faces! Look I'm completely harmless to humans. No need to be afraid of me." I informed and they slowly relaxed as they finally assessed me. Nodding I gave a small smile, "Have you seen the idiot that looks somewhat like me by any chance? He has a girl with him too." as soon as I said this they all nod and pointed towards the back balcony. I nod in thanks and slowly made my way over it following Inuyasha's dog scent.

When I finally approached my eyes widened in horror. I just witnessed a sexual assault! On my classmate and friend!
"Don't touch her like that you leech!" I screamed in anger. Who does this guy think he is?! Kagome ran to the safety of Inuyasha's arms. He asked for a chance to explain things and soon we all agreed.

"I too, am in the search of the shards of the Shikon jewel. My purpose is to find and eliminate a demon. A terrible demon that goes by the name of Naraku." the man Miroku explained. For some reason, the name of the demon sent chills down my spine and I was suddenly on high alert. This demon? Why does just his name cause me so much fear? What kind of demon is he?
"-Every time he took on a form of a different human." I listened back into Miroku's story.

A shapeshifter? Kagome spoke my thoughts.
"They say that the last time he appears before my grandfather, he took on the form of a beautiful woman. My grandfather had great spiritual powers,  but unfortunately as fate would have it..."
"Don't tell me. He was a lecher" both Kagome and I said in unison.

"Remarkable intuition! Naraku pierced my grandfather's right hand with his sacred religious seals and managed to escape. Each year the hole in my hand becomes bigger and the wind even more powerful. Unless I can defeat Naraku, I myself will eventually be devoured by the hole." he finished explaining.
"So you'll die. That's some horrible death." I commented.

"Yes indeed it is and I am prepared to accept that fate if such is truly my destiny. In the meantime, I must continue trying to stop Naraku. The sacred jewel of the 4 souls vanished 50 years ago and now it's shattered into many tiny shards. Knowing Naraku he is certain to gather the fragments in order to strengthen his own malicious power. I'm sure of it." he concluded. I tuned out the rest.

If this Naraku demon can shake me to the core by just his name he had to be stopped. How can I even begin thinking of helping when I can barely fight and protect myself?
"Then do me this good turn, will you? I wish you to bear me a son." his words broke me out of my thoughts.
"Nani!" I shrieked. Bear him a son?! She's 15!
"Oh? Are you jealous? You can bear me one too if you please." he replied.
I knocked my fist on his head, "Not a chance and neither will she you pervert! And to think I wanted to help you!" I retorted in disgust.

Inuyasha pushed Kagome behind him, "Don't ever think about laying a hand on Kagome." he warned. Hey! What about me?!
"Oh, I get it! My bad I thought you were only a companion but I see you're in love with Kagome! Well, I guess she's out of the question but this other beauty is still free." he concluded.
"Like hell I am! Lay a hand on me and I'll scratch your eyes out to where you'll never set eyes on a woman again! Lecherous monk." 

"My, this is awkward." he rubbed the back of his head while I crossed my arms turning away.
"Well, you've got it all wrong!  She's just a jewel detector!" ouch Inuyasha. idiot. I shake my head as they began to all argue. Walking I leaned up against a tree.
"Well so much for everyone coming to a peaceful solution. I never want to grow up." I looked up to Shippo shaking his head causing me to laugh a little.
"I'll say."
