Chapter 24: Shopping

It was Christmas Eve and I was shopping for presents last minute, Knowing me I always do things late. I already got Rin and Luka presents but I totally forgot to get Len a present so here I am at 7:00pm shopping.

I walk past the tons of people who must also be shopping for food or presents. I was spending Christmas with Len this year; It’s only natural since on Christmas you spend time with your loved ones.

I spot a familiar person at the electronics store. I tap the person shoulder. “Len?” I say my voice croaking a little. Len turns around and quickly covers the box that he was holding.

“Miku!” He says. I decide to ignore the weird reflex and keep talking. “I wouldn’t expect to see you here Christmas shopping. I thought I was the only unorganized one.” I say giggling.

Len was wearing Jeans and a long coat with a scarf. It looked cute on him. “No you’re not the only one.” He says smiling. I hadn’t seen Len in a couple of days so it was good to see him on Christmas eve.

“What are you doing here, it seems as if you follow Len around and pretend to see him by surprise!” I turn around to see Neru there with her arms folded. I laugh. “It’s nice to see you too Neru.” I look back at Len.

“I can’t believe my brother even bought you that-“ Len cut her off by covering her mouth. She looks annoyed as she takes of Len’s hand from her mouth and replies to him. “You saved up so much of your money that you made just to give that stupid girl a present!

“Hey now…” Len says scratching his head trying to pretend. “L-Len I told you not to buy me anything expensive!” I say trying to look behind his back to see the thing he got me.

“It wasn’t that expensive!” Len says but I could tell he was lying.

“I guess I have to go now!” I say waving at the both of them. Len waves back while Neru rolls her eyes. I guess Neru still doesn’t like me. I sigh and keep shopping.

I stop at another electronic store that was similar to the one Len was in. I went inside looking at all the mobile phones. It’s about time Len got a new phone, he always carries that crappy phone so sometimes I can’t even call him!

I eye a black touch screen phone with a stylus. This looks perfect for him! I need a new phone as well since mine is just as bad but I will have to wait til next year. I walk to one of the workers there.

“Ah may I please get this in black please?” I say. They nod and go to the back of the counter to bring me a brand new one in a box and everything. “That will be 40,000 yen thanks” ($400)

I give the man the money as he starts putting the item in the bag. Now that I think about it the bag looks like the one Len had before he hid it from me. I walk out with the bag in my hand feeling happy that I bought everyone presents.

I walk out of the shops and catch a train back to my house. I put the present down and look for something in the fridge to it. Suddenly the home phone rings. I look back and quickly run to get it.

“Hello?” I say playing with the string. “Miku? It’s me Len.” I smile. “Hai! What’s wrong?”

“Where are we meeting for tomorrow?” I stop for a second and think. “In front of the stadium…I want to go see the fireworks…” I say smiling even though he can’t see it.

“Sure, I’ll see you there tomorrow…goodbye.” He hangs up the phone.

 

*I know this is really short but I needed to upload this on Christmas Eve so then I can do the Christmas chapter tomorrow???
