Helen reached the front yard of ms Anna's trailer, she knew that their sudden visit this morning was sudden and if the story was actually true, will another murder occur this year? These were her thoughts that vanished the moment she stepped away from the dirt road and on the grass. She gulped and knocked on the door. Miss Anna opened with a frustrated look on her face, she didn't expect anyone on her doorstep, especially Helen. "Can I please come inside?" Helen asked. Anna looked around, seeing no one she nodded and let the girl in
Her trailer was a really odd place. On the yard, you couldn't find anything abnormal. She had some plastic chairs, a table and a small hut with her cooking gear, but on the inside, it was another dimension. Her little trailer sink was filled with a jelly-like purple liquid, with a little soldier figure trapped inside. On Helen's left, was what someone could say bedroom, a double bed was taking the whole space, from one side to another. she didn't sleep on a mattress, but rather on a pile of clothes. The weirdest think of all was on the bathroom. The door was open and by the glance Helen took, there was a bucket in the middle and oily drops of another orange liquid were falling from the roof.
"Don't mind the mess dear," Miss Anna said, but it was impossible not to find all those weird details in the trailer. On Helen's right hand was a big red curtain. Anna pulled the curtain and revealed what was supposed to be her living room. There was a brown chintzy sofa following the edges of the trailer and in the middle a big wooden table, with a white spread covering it, decorated with paintings of oranges. In the middle, a cage with two pigeons was hanging from the trailer's roof.
Helen took a seat right opposite to Anna. "So dear would you like some coffee, a cup of tea maybe, a juice," she said with a wide smile. In her late fifties, her face was starting to become one of a kind grandma would have, rather than a working single woman. Helen politely declined the offer, wouldn't even want to think from where would that tea come from. "I know, let me tell you your fortune" her eyes lightened up, she was a woman that knew how to make someone gain his interest again. "Do you know how?" Helen asked reluctantly "Sure dear, I'm one of the best you'll meet," she said proudly "You know I was the one that told Miss Kitsa she was going to have two sons and a daughter"
Helen agreed and the old lady started shuffling the cards quickly. You could tell how experienced she was by the way the cards were flowing from one hand to another. she left all the cards on the table, closed and asked Helen to pick four. She picked quickly and passed them to her "you rush too much, sometimes you need to stop and decide which path you will take before running to it" Anna placed the cards on the pile again and opened again all of them in front of Helen. She now chose the cards one by one, letting her hand pick what it thought was correct.
Miss Anna took the four cards and placed them closed in the middle of the table. She opened the first. "Ah, you are a lucky woman dear. She showed her the card. You will die old, live a big life" "Happy?" asked Helen "That is not for the cards to decide." she said opening the second life. "I see a productive woman, unresting, trying to prove herself every day" Helen wasn't that shocked about that, this was already a known fact to her. Miss Anna turned the third card "Oh, I see a man" Helen was on the edge of her seat. "What man?" she asked "he will come to your life soon, really soon. Wait for him, I see some problems on the horizon, but eventually, you two will end up together" Lucky her, she knew who that man was, but what was that about the problems? Her thoughts were shattered by Anna turning the last card.
"Oh..." she looked worried "something big is happening, it's going to mark your life. Big big, get ready Helen" she was know looking deep into Helen's eyes. "What do you mean big? How big? Can you see what will that be?" "Cards don't show everything darling, after all, what is life without a little suspense?" "What if something happens to me," she said hitting her nails "You'll be alright, remember that long life I said earlier, after all, marks on our souls are the ones who create our personalities, who makes our existence unique."
There was silence in the room for a little while, Helen suddenly realised that she had lost all contact with her surroundings, with the filth of miss Anna's home. She started talking again "Miss Anna..." she said "There is something else that I came here to talk about, something important" "Oh my god, not again..." "Please miss Anna, I need to know, what happened? To whom was the killer referring to at the mirror, then at the showers" Anna had now turned red, her wide smile replaced by a frowned face and her deep blue eyes became darker. "You have no right to know, you shouldn't know, for your good" "why miss Anna? Why shouldn't I know, if someone is in danger we must help" "Whoever is in danger he cannot escape from her, actually it. Now can you please leave from my trailer?" "Please, just tell me something, I'm dying to know the truth" "What is the point Helen, what is the point solving a case that closed thirty years ago, thirty years, your parents were still going at school, please just leave." "One thing, why was he killed, do you know why was that man killed?" "GODDAMIT HELEN" Anna was outraged, shouting, screaming to her, "leave, both you and your questions"
Helen rushed to the exit. "Why was she so furious? " she thought "she acted like she lo..." a smile appeared on her face "she loved him" She reached her trailer, opened her phone and texted Lukas
- Hey Luke, tomorrow 10 am, my place, can u come? -
If miss Anna was right about something, that would probably be Luke. Ugh, he looked so hot, especially in his bathing suit, or maybe without it?!
That's it. Still, no reads but I have faith that someone will read it.
