By the beach

Sorry that I'm not updating as much as I used to. I'm really into Lost, the other book I'm writing. However I'm trying my best to keep up and post once per week

The next morning found them with the sun shining and the sound of cicadas. The last day's rain was slowly evaporating from the small ponds that were formed on the roads and yards, the sea looked calmed and light blue as always, no cloud at sight.

Before they left, everybody helped Jim pull out everything from the trailer, as also resetting the tent that had fallen last night. "Thank god nothing that stayed outside is damaged," Jim said relieved. "We'll see about that when we get to our trailers," Luke joked, almost sure that everything would be fine.

"It seems like a lovely day, doesn't it?" Helen said, gazing to the blue sky, "It was only for a day, but I kinda missed the beach" An almost silent hum was heard from everyone else. "Shall we go later?" Luke proposed, "How about we meet there at eleven-thirty?" "See you at eleven-thirty guys," Nick said and left.

"I guess we don't have a saying..." Jim said looking toward Helen, "I'm inviting Alex, you two have fun until then." He said walking back inside his trailer leaving Helen and Luke alone.

"How about some ice-cream?" Helen said, in a sweet and soft tone. "I couldn't say no and you know it" He laughed and they headed towards the camping's mini-market. "It's not that I don't enjoy you being regular customers, but you don't seem to pick nothing else except for cream and cookies..." the cashier, Mr Manolis said as they came to pay. "We know and we'll continue buying the same sir," Helen said and paid him.

"Can we ditch the beach?" Helen asked Luke as she took a scoop of her ice-cream. "It's not that I don't want to go," she added quickly, answering to Luke's confused face. "I just prefer being with you, just you..." she said and went for a quick kiss, cleaning the cream from his face.

"We can go to the beach and then leave them and go somewhere alone." Luke proposed which Helen agreed to. They sat in silence, a really comfortable one. They felt more than close, they both felt safe being together.

"Hey Luke, I've been meaning to tell you something for a day or so," Helen said, breaking the silence. "What's that?" Luke asked. Did something happen after the Cage? Did something strange happen in the camping?

Helen had her way in sticking her nose everywhere she shouldn't, just like Nick. Her small frown on her face only showed that she wasn't about to say something happy.

"The day that you guys went to the beach..." Helen started talking, "...Nick and I searched ms Anna's trailer." she admitted. Luke wasn't that surprised, although he was a little angry that they didn't hear his advise at all. "Didn't I tell both of you not to mess around with Anna's death? This is dangerous, you could be arrested, you could be killed." He said, still trying to convince Helen that this was a bad idea, though she didn't seem to think so.

"I'm sorry Luke, but what we found now can't stop us from searching, you're either with or against us,"  Helen said firmly, she had never talked to him like that, but she had enough of him complaining. Lukas looked at her frustrated. Finally, he lowered his eyes and said "fine...I'll help you out," Helen couldn't believe her ears. "This was easier than I thought," she thought. "Just promise me that if the situation is getting too extreme or dangerous you will back off. I don't want you, Nick or anyone being hurt over this."

"I promise," Helen said and pulled him into a tight hug

...
They found everyone else already at the beach by the time Luke and Helen arrived. "We thought you ditched us to go fool around," Alex said as they sat near them, under Nick's big yellow umbrella. "We wouldn't, we were just talking about something," Luke said. "Yeah right, you have convinced us," Jim said and laughed. "Where's Nick?" Helen asked. "He'll be back soon, he's fetching a mini-fridge from my trailer," Jim answered. "Why is he going and not you? After all, it's your trailer." Helen asked as she was pulling off her shirt. "I was bored to go."
