"Who said that the earth is round?" Marcus asked me, his eyes were busy scanning his reviewer for the exam.

For the whole hour, I tried to read and memorize all the information my whole system could swallow but to no effect. It only made me cram more terribly.

I fed myself with facts, and even asked questions and answered them myself. Well, that's what I considered my "learning style" but I had never proven it to be effective. I still got low scores in exams.

"The earth is round. Isn't it? Alam ng mundo 'yon. Kailangan pa ba talagang may magsabi non. Duh!" I just uttered confidently without even looking at my notes.

He rolled his eyes as dropped his reviewer and shifted his eyes on me. Without a second thought, I realized I was just blabbering nonsense. Oo nga. Walang point yong sinabi ko.

"Come on, Azie! Where were you the last time we discussed this in the class?" Nahihimigan ko ang inis sa boses niya.

Ganito nalang palagi pag exam. Lagi niya akong pinapagalitan.

"Wait, did Ms. Gonzaga discuss this? Bakit wala sa notes ko?" I suddenly scanned my notes to look for that topic.

Napabuntong-hininga siya. Sino ba kasi ang nagsabi ng 'ganon?

"Here." Nilapag niya ang reviewer sa harap ko.

I stopped searching for the answer in my notebook.

So, this guy really said it. His name is a stranger to me.

"Who the hell is that?" tanong ko nalang at napahalukipkip.

Why do we even need to study that? Is that even important?

"Watch your language, Azie! We're inside the library," anas niya.

"Sorry. But, who is he really?" I asked, pointing my finger on that name in his reviewer.

I saw Marcus playing with his ballpen.

Knowing Marcus, he has this habit of speaking terms without warning and relates them to something that proves that theory, especially the ones we discuss in the class and malamang sa malamang hindi ko alam. Hindi ko nga kilala si Pythagoras, eh.

Honestly, I find them helpful when he does it.

"He is a Greek philosopher and known for his great contribution to mathematics. Mas nakilala siya dahil doon sa Pythagorean theorem... for a right-angles triangle the square on the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares on the other two sides. Do you still remember that lesson in Geometry?"

"No," mabilis na sagot ko.

I saw the movements of his Adam's apple.

Who can remain patient in teaching me?

"Okay. Nevermind." He shrugged.
Umupo siya ng tuwid. Hinayaan niya nalang akong magbasa ng reviewer niya.
