✨ FLASHBACK ✨ ( Highschool senior year )

" 2 days until, prom and no one has asked me to be their date. "
Jae slammed her locker door shut with anger.

"I'm sure whoever want to ask you is just nervous." I smirked and closed my locker door

Jae started to bite her nails, looking around at all the students walking in the halls.

"After school, can go shopping for my prom dress? "  I asked with hesitants in my voice.

"YOU DON'T HAVE A DRESS!!! " Jae looked at me like I just killed her cat.

"Zoey, I know Noah only asked you yesterday, so I understand your predicament, but that's no excuse. I have my dress and no one has asked me. "  Jae added

"I wasn't planning on going anyways Jae." I confessed

"Oh really." Jae remarked with a hint of sarcasm.

Jae looped her arm with mine and we walked towards the exit.

We then walked on over to our spot. The bench that was placed under a huge willow tree.

"What's for lunch?" Jae asked, licking her lips.

"Leftovers." I sigh and gave Jae a lunchbox filled with Mac n Cheese.

"Delicious!" Jae picked up the fork and dug in.

Both of us ate my fathers famous Mac n Cheese and gossiped about everyone.

"So, you and Noah." Jae smirked taking a bite of the Mac n Cheese

"What about us?" I asked, Noah and I were just friends, going to prom as friends.

"Zoey, don't be stupid." Jae added

"Honestly I saw it coming, ever since we showed up at his house that one time, just because you fell in love with him at the BUS STOP." Jae closed the lunchbox and handed it to me.

"I did not fall in love with him and I still can't believe you insisted on having pink lemonade that day." I tried changing the subject

"Hey, don't bring pink lemonade into the situation and don't you change the subject, Miss. I know you like him, you don't have to hide your feelings from me." Jae chuckled

"It's just that, I don't want to ruin our friendship." I lied, I just wanted to stop talking about it.

"Do you know how many girls, that would kill to have a boy best friend, let alone fall in love with and end being in a relationship with. MILLIONS, ZOEY MILLIONS."

Jae and I start laughing and I blush a little bit.

*bell rings

"Meet me by the lockers after school, then we call an Uber to go to the mall." I exclaimed, while walking towards the school building

"Bye."

Jae walked casually in the other direction.

"That's the one, oh wow." Jae was blown away

"Noah is going to love it" she added

"You really think so." I questioned, looking for complete honesty

"Definitely" Jae said in awe

The dress was a strapless baby pink ballgown with a glittery tool.
