Chapter 14

The next day I was in Dr. Paige's office. I asked to meet her wanting to understand something from last night.

"Hello, It's nice to meet you again Dr.Y/n."-Ava

"Hello, Dr. Paige, I have a question for you, it's about something that happened."

"What happened?"-Ava

"Do I have a "connection" with Teresa?"

"No, you do not. Although if we were talking about that thing that happened around 1 am then I think the Psychs have an answer for you."-Ava

"Do you know?"

I did not want to go to the Psychs knowing that there is a crank in there somewhere.

"Yes, I do."-Ava

"Can you tell me?"

"Sure. In some weird way, you were able to use your connection with Thomas to get it to Teresa. You hated her so much that you wanted to hurt her. Your brain was able to find a way to do that. We believe the high pitch noise was your brain messing with the chip in your brain which is why it hurt everyone but you. Also the second time it didn't hurt Newt but it did for Thomas and Teresa. We think your brain stopped trying to hurt someone you loved so it didn't hurt Newt the second time. We actually gained some valuable information from that."-Ava

"Thanks for telling me, Doctor."

"You're welcome, Doctor."-Ava

I left the room and I became curious about if they knew about Minho's escape plan, hopefully, they didn't and I didn't want to ask in fear that they didn't know and that I would have been the one to expose my best friend.

It was 3 am when Randall, Dr. Leavitt, and Rameriz decided to ruin our sleep. Thomas and I were quick on our feet, these guys were not nice and very strict. We can't be taking our time for whatever they were to say.

"What's going on?"-Thomas

"I think you know why that's going on. And that is why you are coming with us, right now."-Randall

They wanted us to go with them quickly, no questions were to be asked. They were pushing us along and we're not going to put up with us this early morning. They had me wait in a different room and Thomas went first. It was a soundproof, dull waiting room. Almost like the room, you would be sitting in if at a police station. I don't know how long time went by, I didn't want to fall asleep so I forced myself to keep my head up even if I was extremely tired. When Randall came to get me into the room Thomas was just in, I was wide awake. He had me sit next to him, the room had security monitors showing everything, from the halls to the dorms, to the medical rooms, and to the maze progress underground.

"What's going on? Why did you bring me here?"

"Look there."-Randall

My eyes went to where he pointed, on a screen to my right showed Minho strapped in a chair bloody and bruised. The rope was very tight on him because it almost went into his skin. I didn't like whatever I was about to see. I knew immediately what was happening. I didn't know exactly what was going to happen, all I knew was that Minho was about to go through a terrible punishment and I was going to have to watch.

"It seems your friend didn't learn from his last lesson about not going outside. So we need to show him that he can't go outside. Don't you agree Dr. Y/n."-Randall

The venom when he said my name was obviously meant to show how I need to side with him. I made the choice to side with them even if I hate and disagree with them. I decided to not respond, I can't take a side here. I'd betray my friends if I say yes, but the trust that I built with these people will waver as well and my chance to escape with everyone will be hindered if I say no.

"Y/n you got off easy last time you went outside. You were able to prove your worth to the cause instead. Minho and Gally like to think they are above the effort of helping us here, they have to be dealt with. I hope you could learn from this."-Leavitt

Randall nodded at the guards in the room telling them to leave. Rameriez and Leavitt kept close to me to make sure that I wouldn't leave while Randall took care of controls.

I did not like whatever was about to happen, I wanted to close my eyes and plug my ears, but they could just force me to watch. The stress began to build, I wanted to go through the camera and get Minho out of there.

"I think you know that we know about you and your friends, little get together at night. You are not stupid, if you were you wouldn't be a Doctor and a respected one to be at that. We also know that you and your friends tried to stop him through words. We are not here to punish you for his mistake, we just need to take advantage of the situation."-Randall

"So then why am I here? Why bring me and Thomas in here? If I'm not wrong Thomas saw what I am about to see isn't it? Why couldn't you bring both of us in here at once?"

"I understand the questions, we needed you two separate because you two are different despite being twins. You both have different understandings so we needed to do this both at different times. Also, you are here because we needed the witnesses, we need you to tell others about what happens here. Others need to understand what would happen if they were to leave."-Randall

All that I heard was that these psychopaths want us to understand that we are better off just listening to them, forget about freedom and submit to us. It will all be for the better cause. We don't want any of you to get hurt. They were all terrible people and I can't believe that they are willing to do whatever they are about to do.

I was not ready for what was to come.
