Chapter 49: Being a coward

"Chae we need to talk.." I said while gripping on my phone in guilt.

"Yeah Jungkook we really need to talk.." she replied worriedly... "At the same restaurant please.." she's crying now..

"Okay." I said. I tried to sound cold as possible so that I won't hesitate when I see her.

I've made up my mind. I'll let her go and let her continue her career. That is the only way I can protect her..

I headed to the place Chaeyoung requested to meet. When I entered the restaurant, I saw her sitting and burying her face into her hands.

She's really crying...

I approached her and calmed her down.

"Crying won't be a solution Chae.. stop crying.." I said while sitting in front of her and handed her my handkerchief.

She looked at me in confusion and accepted it.

"What will we do Jungkook?.." she asked and tried to hold my hand but I avoided it. She looked at me in shock.

"Your pd-nim called me after I came from our company to explain the issue..." I said. I saw a glint of fear in her eyes.

"W-hat did he said?" She asked while her tears are falling down on the both sides of her cheeks. It tears my heart apart just to see her cry, especially in front of me..

I reached out my hands to wipe her tears down. She held my hands and looked at me.

"He also called me.. he told me that I should break up with you and make my statement that I am denying it. That's why I wanted to meet up with you so that we can think of a plan and solution without breaking up.. this--" I cutted her off.

"Chae.. it's not good for you to disobey your company.." I warned her while still holding her hands.

"But I don't want to break up with you either..." She replied. I held back my tears since I don't want her to see me cry.

"What idea have you planned?" I asked her again.

"I don't want us to break up. We can post our statement that we've broke up but actually didn't that way--" I cutted her off again.

"What will you do if our companies found out again that we lied? What do you think will they do? Aren't you afraid?" I slightly raised my voice

"You want us to break then?!" She said in disbelief. I didn't answered and she nodded.

"You're afraid Jungkook. You ARE afraid! You're being such a coward!" She said. I got taken aback with her words.

"I'm just being reasonable Chae.. I'm not afraid..if we don't break up, both of our careers will go down. It's the best thing to do for now.." I said and looked at her. Her eyes was filled with hatred and disappointment. She stood up from her seat.

"Fine then let's break up like what you just wanted. I just can't imagine that I relied to you that if time would come like this that everyone already knew our relationship you won't let go of my hand and hold it tightly like what you promised back at the namsan tower but I guess it's just a delusion. I thought your love for me is enough to make you stay and fight for our love but I guess I'm wrong for the second time again.." she said while crying. I got up from my seat and tried to hug her but she avoided it. This time my tears rolled down on my cheeks.

"I'm sorry Chae.. I really don't want us to end like this.. if you just know what plans I have for our future.. it's just that I don't want to risk your career. I know how much you've worked hard for it and I don't want it to go for a waste. You understand me right?" I asked her while holding her hands. But she didn't answered and tried to remove her hands from my grip but I insisted. "Just remember this Chae.. my love will never be swayed. Our relationship might not be a happy ending for now but there are variables in this world. Our love might not be for now but one day, one day I'll promise you that we can love each other without anyone who would hinder between us... I promise that.." I said and kissed her forehead. I was about to hug her again but she restrained.
