♚♚♚The room was silent.
Bienvenidos
The Professor turned to face the group. Two rows desks lined up facing the chalk board. Valentina sat in between one of the Serbs and the man in the suit. Every so often she noticed him glance behind himself to look at her. Alvaro, on the other hand, sat in the very back behind a woman that he thought was a bit obnoxious.
"I welcome you..." he started off by saying. "and I thank you for agreeing to this..." he paused shortly. "this job offer." A younger man chuckled strangely after the Professor spoke. It took Valentina off guard, for the laugh was very unusual to her. She thought he was quite handsome, but a little old for her liking.
The Professor adjusted his glasses and continued. "We'll live here. Away from the maddening crowd. For five months, we're going to study how we're going to pull off this heist."
Another man spoke up, this one seated in front of the one with the strange laugh. "What do you mean 'five months?' Estamos locos o qué?"
The Professor sat on the desk. "Mira, people spend years at school to earn a salary, which even in the best scenario, is a shitty one. What's five months?"
Unbeknownst to them, both Valentina and Alvaro were thinking the same thing; they were thinking about a home. A place to live for five months, food to eat, a bed to sleep in. Even if the heist didn't go according to plan, at least they spent the last few months of their lives surrounded by people, living a decent life.
"I've been thinking about this," the Professor continued. "for much longer." he shrugged and pondered a moment. "So I don't have to work ever again. Nor will you. Or your children.
He got up from the desk and walked back up to the chalkboard. "All right. Currently, you don't know each other. And I want to keep it that way. I don't want names or personal questions. And, obviously, no personal relations."
Valentina frowned at this. No personal questions or relations? How will the Professor expect ten adults to live together for five months without getting to know each other? She quickly turned to look at everyone in the room, not caring if she wasn't being subtle. She didn't know their talents yet, but at first glance they all seemed like decent human beings. The younger boy in the back, however, sparked her interest. He wore a black hoodie, a wrapping on his hand and wrist, and dark eyes.
Alvaro, however, picked his head up at the rules. He was almost impressed by them. He would have no trouble keeping to himself and not getting close to anyone. However, he wasn't so sure about the others.
"I want each of you to pick a name. Something simple. Could be numbers, planets, cities..."
The man with the weird laugh spoke again. "Like, Mr. 17 and Ms. 23?"
"We're off on a bad start, I can't even remember my phone number." Said the older man in front of him.
"That's why I tell you." Said the first. It was becoming more clear now, the two were father and son.
A new voice piped up, a younger kid who couldn't have been much older than Valentina and Alvaro. "Planetas? I can be Mars and this one... Uranus." He pointed to the guy with the weird laugh.
