A Chance to Bail

Hizashi was vibrating with excitement, watching the clock tick slowly through each second of the day. He tried to distract himself with anything else, but all he could think of was preparing Shouta for a party. He had thought about this extensively and had plans for making this as comfortable as possible for the introvert.

Shouta noticed that his friend was slightly less talkative today, still keeping a regular banter but not shouting out his random thoughts and such. He wondered if Hizashi was nervous about the party, or if extroverts got nervous about things like that for that matter. Shouta felt a little nervous, but most of this was ignorable by the fact that he would have a lifeline at the party as well as a few friends that would certainly help.

He reminded himself that he could always back out, if he really felt uncomfortable Hizashi would understand as he always did. But his mind also wandered back to Hizashi's words. I'd love it if you came. Words that encouraged him to feel more confident about braving a party.

When the final bell rang, Hizashi didn't jump from his seat and prance down the hallway telling everyone to enjoy their time away from school as he usually did. He stood and talked to Shouta as he gathered his things, waiting until he stood to begin walking toward the door.

"Are you still sure you want to come? This is a chance to bail if you want" Hizashi half-smiled, sounding more serious than Shouta expected. Shouta smiled, Hizashi knew him very well but at this point he was dedicated to going.

"I'm not bailing, you said you'd help me feel comfortable, I'm ready to see what you've got."  Shouta motioned for Hizashi to lead the way. Hizashi bit his bottom lip to keep the smile from breaking out across his face. He would repay Shouta with a party of his creation, perhaps a party of nothing but cats and naps.
