“Are you sure you’re okay?” Maddy asked me over the phone, questioning my well-being because I don’t talk to her anywhere near as much anymore as I used to.
“I’m sure I’m okay,” I informed.
“Certain?” She continued to question.
“I’m certain that I’m okay,” I confirmed.
“Wait, let me guess, you’ve gone boy crazy,” She predicted.
“What makes you think that?” I inquired. “Just because I’ve befriended a boy who has a cute physical appearance doesn’t mean I’ve gone boy crazy,” I defended.
“How could you be friends with someone as cute as Benji and not be boy crazy?” Maddy asked, not finding it possible for me not to have gone boy crazy.
“You know what? I don’t want to talk about this anymore,” I stated. Right after I said this i heard a little beep that told me that another person was calling me. “Just a minute Maddy, I’ve got someone waiting on another line,” I informed her. I took my phone away from my ear, it a few buttons, then put it back up to my ear.
“Hello?” I greeted the person, not sure who it was that had called me.
“Hi Alynne,” The person on the other end of the phone returned. It took me a second to process who it was that I was talking to, but as soon as I figured out who it was I got very excited for some reason. I guess I just loved to talk to Benji.
“What’s up?” I asked him, this usually being the first question asked, the person asking it however changing with every conversation we have.
“Not much,” Benji answered. “I just wanted to ask you a question.”
“What do you want to ask me?” I asked, hearing that he called me because he wanted to ask me something.
“I was wondering if maybe…” He trailed off, either not sure of his question or not sure how to word it. “If you would like to…” He trailed off once again. “If you would like to possibly go to the new cafe at opened up on main street,” He finally asked after multiple pauses. “Ive’ heard that they’ve got cheese fondue that’s to die for,” He added. “Oh god, that sounded so stupid,” I heard him mutter to himself. “It’s okay if you don’t want to go, it was actually kind of stupid of me to even consider asking.”
“I would love to,” I answered. I felt rather sorry for him at the thought of him scolding himself internally for seemingly being stupid for the thought of asking me if I’d be interested in going to the newly minted cafe with him.
“Really?” He questioned, not sure if he had heard me right.
“Really,” I confirmed. A smile then appeared on my face. I had no plans tonight so that meant that I would end up lounging in my apartment eating ice cream and watching shows such as Cake Boss. “Why would I not?” I asked, wanting to know why he thought that I would say no. If I had other plans I’d tell him just that but see if we could go out another time, but I didn’t so that wasn’t necessary.
