"What kind of cake did you get?" Maddy questioned as Benji brought out a rectangular shaped plate from the kitchen. There was a opague sheet covering it so the flavor as well as frosting was currently unknown, but won't be for much longer if I can do anything about it.
"With you being a doctor I would swear that you'd be beyond eating cake by now since the ingredients within it are unhealthy," I commented.
"Post pregnancy cravings, I need sweets," Maddy used as an excuse. "Chocolate specifically, so I hope that the cake has chocolate something in it."
"There's no such thing as post pregnancy cravings," I assumed.
"Actually, a large portion of women experience intense sugar cravings even months after giving birth," she informed. "So it's totally natural."
"Then if that's the case, why haven't I had any?" I asked her in a soft tone, not wanting anybody else to hear this confession.
"Everybody's different, most have it but some go without it," Maddy explained.
"I'm still going to use it as an excuse for Benji to get me salted caramel dark chocolate though," I tipped off.
"How much of that do you usually have?" She asked.
"Oh about a square or two a day,"I replied. "Three if it's been a bad day and I'm down in the dumps."
"That few?" Maddy exclaimed, obviously surprised. "If I were you I'd be having about half a bag a day, and that's if my cravings are minimal," she said. "Brad is making countless visits to the local chocolatier shop to get me some fresh-made. That seems to fill me up quickest."
"Whereabouts is this shop?" I inquired. "If it's close-by I'll need to see if Benji will get me any salted caramel squares there."
"It's time to cut the cake!" Benjamin announced. As moths to light, Maddy and I swarmed over to the table where the cake platter was set.
"Mother of all chocolate," Maddy commented to the appearance of the cake.
"It's beautiful," I added.
"You do know that you can have a slice if you want," Benji stated as a friendly reminder.
"I want more than just a slice, I want the whole damn cake," Maddy replied.
"Well, I guess you'll just have to settle for one slice right now," I cut in. "And possibly a second later on."
The whole situation with the cake was a quick one to pass, myself only eating one slice and Maddy finding the ability to settle on three. Yes, a doctor that always used to patronize me for eating a Snickers bar in two minutes, which isn't that hard to do actually, but now she's eating more chocolate in a day than I do in a week.
"Your little boy, David, is absolutely adorable," I complimented Maddy's child.
"Thanks," she thanked. "Isabelle is a cute little girl. What would you have named Isabelle if she was a boy instead?"
"If I had a boy, his name would have been Christopher," I answered. "Benjamin and I actually had no clue what to name Isabelle when we found out we had a girl, so we ended up naming her after Benji's guitar."
"Well Isabelle is a beautiful name," Maddy added.
"You know what?" I questioned.
"What?" She replied.
"I want some wine," I answered. "Wait no. I need it. Can I have wine?"
"Yes, you can have wine," she answered positively.
"Let's go get some wine," we both agreed on.
"Somebody say wine?" I heard Maddy's husband Brad asked.
"What kind have you got?" I returned.
"I've got some kind of red wine," he answered.
"Hit me up!" I commented. Benji overheard our conversation and decided to bring out some wine glasses.
"Can you get my nice, rich chocolate out of the cupboard?" I asked Benji, that chocolate being for a special occasion. Today it just felt right to bring it out. He nodded his head and began to search for it.
"Gotten some delicacies set up for us all now haven't you?" Maddy asked.
"Oh these old things?" I replied. "Just some things in the back of the cabinets."
"I got the wine though," Brad interrupted.
"Yeah, from my basement," I cut in. "And don't even try to defend it because I recognize the bottle."
"You remember every bottle of wine you ever get?"
"Photographic memory," I commented. "I've had it ever since I was a child."
We were soon all gathered together around the table where wine glasses were set out filled with the red wine and my two bars of chocolate broken into equal pieces.
"To the good life that we've all been gracious enough to receive," I announced. "Dig in."

This is the end! Sorry for no ahead of time warning but this seemed like the best place to end it. I also didn't really know what else to do so I wrote this sweet group scene here. I'd like to thank you all for your patience with the slower updates on this book and I hope you enjoyed reading it.
