Alynne did not seem very pleased, to say the least, at the sight of her old friend Maddy in a lab coat. Alynne was in an even worse condition than the last time I saw her, and then I didn't think getting worse was even a possibility. Looks like I was wrong.

She was hunched over, unable to stand up straight most likely due to bone strength deterioration. When you never eat anything you're not getting the nutrients you need and almost everything shuts down. Her stomach has most likely shrunken greatly and it wouldn't surprise me if it's shut itself down because its not being used. Her skin was a much more vibrant shade of yellow than it was the last time I saw her, and instead of just being splotches, it was impossible to find an inch of skin that didn't have a yellow hue to it. Another thing that I noticed was that there were short dark colored hairs covering her skin. This was yet another symptom of anorexia nervosa.

"Why are you here!" Alynne screeched at the top of her lungs, it being obvious that she didn't like the fact that her best friend who is now a doctor was here. "Why the fuck are you here!" She stated yet again at the same volume, but adding a piece of profanity to the mix to hopefully seem more intimidating.

"I'm here because you're sick, Alynne," Maddy informed with a calm tone of voice, polar opposite from Alynne's current state.

"Who are you? How do you know my name!" Alynne commented, not very happy with the fact that Maddy knew her name. She didn't remember her best friend.

"My name is Dr. Kenney, but you know me better as Maddy," Maddy answered, somehow still able to keep a nonchalant persona.

"Do I know you?" Alynne questioned, most likely having a hard time processing this, yet another symptom of her eating disorder.

"Yes you do," Maddy assured. "I'm your friend Maddy. Remember?" Alynne's gaze was all over the place, never making eye contact with somebody. She was probably doing this to save herself from possible embarrassment. "We used to do everything together. Every Friday we'd go to the town hotspot and just have the time of our lives." Alynne nodded her head slightly at the memory of the good times they both shared together.

"Why are you here?" Alynne asked yet again, but in a much calmer tone than the one she formerly bared. She probably couldn't remember the answer that Maddy had given her. Alynne was beginning to tremble and sway from side to side. At the fear of her falling and crashing into the floor, I rushed over to her and propped her up against my side to prevent that from happening.

"I'm here because you're sick," Maddy stated, repeating the same answer she had given before verbatim.

"But, I'm not sick,"Alynne commented."I don't feel sick. Why do you think I'm sick?"

"I don't think you're sick, I know you're sick," Maddy replied. "I know that you're sick and you need to go to the hospital."

"But I'm not sick, so why do I need to go to the hospital?" Alynne retorted, but not with a nasty tone of voice, more of one that's just questioning.

"You may not think so but I know that you are and that's why you need to go to the hospital," Maddy said, taking her same answer but rewording it in many different ways and hoping that Alynne would be able to comprehend and accept one of them.

"But I don't want to go to the hospital,' Alynne stated.

"You may not want to but you need to so you can get better," Maddy informed.

"But how can I get better if I'm not even sick?"

"Alynne, you are sick and you can only get better if you go to the hospital."

"If I'm sick than what am I sick with then?" Alynne asked, requesting that Maddy tell her. Alynne must be thinking that if Maddy can offer an illness up to her that sounded even somewhat logical then she would believe her friend.

"You have an eating disorder called anorexia nervosa, better known as solely anorexia," Maddy answered.

"Why do you think I have that?" Alynne questioned.

"Alynne, I've seen many cases of anorexia nervosa. Picking out the symptoms and signs has become second nature to me. I know that you have it and you really need help to get better. Please Alynne, will you please go to the hospital. I'm begging you."

"Okay," Alynne agreed. Sooner than you could say 'pumpernickel bread' we were in Maddy's blue Fiat 500 on route to the hospital.

So, this chapter was a little hard to write at first because I wasn't exactly sure as how to go about writing it, but soon enough I was able to get it. I hope you enjoyed it and that you'll tell me what you think down in the comments or whatever method you prefer. As I've said a million times already, feedback and suggestions are always appreciated as well as encouraged. :)
