I apologize ahead of time if this ends up being a rather short chapter

"That was amazing!" Alynne exclaimed as we made out way out of the concert venue. Somehow, I was able to score a pair of tickets to a local Coldplay show from a radio station, I just haven't told her that yet. I find this information something irrelevant because I don't think it really matters how I got them, unless the question comes up. However, knowing Alynne as well as I do, I highly doubt she will. To her, it doesn't matter how I got them, just that I was, and she would be forever grateful for that. You know why?

Alynne fucking loves Coldplay.

"You must have spent a fortune on getting those tickets!" She continued. "Last thing I heard was that the gig was sold out. How did you get a hold of a pair of tickets?"

"Radio station giveaway," I explained. "I had to be the fifth caller, so I got my hands on five phones with different numbers. I was caller four through eight."

"Impressive," She confessed. "But why are you doing all of this? It's not that I don't appreciate it, it's just, you wouldn't usually do this sort of thing," Alynne asked. "If we wanted to see a concert we'd go on YouTube or put my Coldplay DVD in, not actually go to one."

"Think of it as a celebration," I smiled.

"A celebration of what?"

"Well, for one you won a battle against anorexia," I began to list off. "And as a celebration of the events that are yet to come."

"What do you mean by that?"

"Oh, just think of anything you think is even remotely plausible that's positive to come in the future," I elaborated.

"Like what?"

"Anything your little heart can think up."

"Not a lot of positive things are coming to mind," She shared.

"Why is that?" I questioned.

"Oh, I don't know," I heard her mutter to herself. "Maybe because I'm naturally a pessimistic person."

"Then the two of us are total opposites then," I pointed out. "Because I'm naturally an optimist."

"Opposites attract I've heard."

"That couldn't be any more true," I agreed. "Because we both know that if it wasn't, we sure as hell wouldn't be together."

"I can't help myself but question how someone as optimistic as you can put up with someone as pessimistic as me," Alynne said, vocalizing her seemingly reoccurring thought.

"But you're not pessimistic on purpose," I pointed out. "Life has dealt you some pretty shit cards and that's all you've had to work with. For what it's worth, I think you're pretty optimistic."

"Thanks for that, but I'm really not that optimistic," She murmured just audibly.

"I'm able to pick out the best in everybody," I commented. "And you can always learn to be optimistic."

"How's that?" She questioned.

"Well, you'll have the rest of your life to learn, and I'll have the rest of my life to teach you," I explained. I quickly caught a quizzical look begin to appear on her face.

"Alynne..." I trailed off. It's now never I thought to myself. The nerves that plagued my body soon disappeared and I was more confident about my next move more than ever. "Will you marry me?"

In reaction to my proposal, Alynne's hands went up to cover her mouth. Her eyes began to glitter from the teardrops that had begun to spring, and slowly, she nodded her head.

"Yes," She reassured in words.

I'm the happiest fool to ever have stepped foot on this earth because words cannot describe how overjoyed I am right now.

So, Benji did it! He proposed to Alynne! I hope that I didn't totally shit the scene. I've never written a proposal scene before so I hope I didn't totally botch it up and this was even somewhat realistic. Benji is also a very simple man so he didn't arrange a big event for the proposal, but rather took Alynne to a Coldplay concert and proposed on the street, of sorts.

In the media I stuck an acoustic version of the song The One by Kodaline. Since Kodaline is my latest music obsession and I found this song rather fitting, I figured why not include it! You can take a look at that if you'd like.
