Prologue

~~~~~~~~
Seven years from the day that Aiden came back to life.
~~~~~~~~~~~

The fog settled upon the ground. The forest was quiet.

There were no animals here, in this desolate place, not even a mouse.

The village was silent. The lights were dimmed. The port was empty.

There were no boats, no people, no animals.

Empty.

All except a single little girl who stood at the edge of the village.

It was a small place, the village was made up of a few empty marketplace stalls, houses, and stores.

But there was something wrong.

"The ghosts of past return."

~~~~~~~~~~~
A scream rang out through the night.
A mother ran to her child, banging into the wall as she made her way down the hall.
A father came to help.
A little girl sat up in her bed, crying. Her scream still ringing in her parent's ears.
(Ana's POV)
"Mommy!!!" I went to Eri's bed, picking up a tissue as I went.
Aiden ran in behind me.
"Eri? Ana? What happened?"
"Daddy!" Eri said, "I was there again! I saw it!"
I shared a glance with my beloved.
"Where were you, sweetie?" I asked.
"The- the...village...empty...foggy...ghosts!" She said sniffling.
I winced. Ghosts and I don't mix very well.
"What do you mean, Eri?" Aiden asked.
"Everywhere! They started appearing! The floating shadows of people!" Eri said, starting another long stream of tears.
"Of people?" I asked, kindly.
"Of pwepole and wolfs." She mumbled, her eyes wide with fear, her chin trembling.
"Did they say anything to you?" I asked.
"The ghosts of past return." She quoted, falling into her father's arms.
My eyes widened. Shock overcame me. I was on my knees by Eri's bed, staring at her blanket.
"Mommy? Mommy?" I heard, echoing.
"Ana? Ana!" Aiden yelled, shaking me.
I looked into his eyes. His were as frightened as mine.
A shiver went down my spine.
If Aiden was scared, then he probably thought the same thing as me.
The ghosts of our past have come back.
But my question was: Were they here, or in Avalon? Or worse, somewhere we don't know of yet, plotting revenge against us?
