April cancelled her flight and decided to stay in Hawaii a little while longer. April didn't like what she was going back to and wanted a new change. She didn't want to return to a broken home and back to putting in all the effort.
Roger didn't care.
She truly felt it in her heart.
He was okay with barely texting her and the "dry" conversations they exchanged. He was okay with showing her that she was the last priority and it didn't faze him. It didn't faze him because she saw how low her worth degraded with every passing day. And April prayed.
She cried oceans of tears over this relationship. And spent most mornings and most nights begging to God, hoping he would heal her heart and bright light into his plan. She knew this was one-sided. Roger wouldn't be praying over her, nonetheless shed a tear over her existence. April let Kenai teach her how to surf. This was Liz's specialty. April knew surfing was the only thing that calmed Aprils worries and wanted to try it for herself.
And April was a natural. She let the water guide her through the waves as small speckles of the ocean brushed past her skin. April realised all her stress into the ocean as the sun made her skin glow. If only she could surf back in Sydney.
"Oh that's my cousin" April noticed a black ute beep from the beach as they sat on their boards. Kenai excused himself and paddled to shore to see this mysterious cousin. April paid no mind to this and continued to wait for the next wave. April returned back to shore after one more wave to meet Kenai's cousin.
"April this is my cousin Keahi, Keahi this is Liz's cousin from Sydney, April"
April was taken back by the tama's (boy's) beauty. For the first time since she was with Roger, she was physically attracted to another person. She felt her body betray her as she shook Keahi's hand.
"Hey I'll walk home I just want some air. I'll leave my board in your truck" April excused herself, not wanting to make a fool out of herself. Kenai raised a brow at the awkwardness April was showing yet didn't want to embarrass her in front of his cousin.
April felt weird. Was she slowly getting over Roger? She was afraid to admit it nonetheless spend more time thinking if it was possible. Keahi was just an eye crush and nothing else. Hopefully, she could spend the rest of her trip without seeing him again. April reached home and discovered she didn't have a key and no one was home. Mia and Vera were away at Mia's volleyball camp.
Great.
April waited out front for what felt like hours before the two boys came home. Even better.
"April what are you doing?" Kenai jumped out of his ute whilst Keahi stayed in his. Staring at April.
"I forgot to get a key" April muttered walking inside. She noticed Kenai had trouble saying something out loud.
"What's up" She raised her brow.
"Can you watch Lizzy tonight? I haven't seen Ke-"
"Yes. Yes it's okay I have everything under control. Enjoy yourself" April smiled seeing Kenai want to spend time with someone other than Lizzy. Kenai smiled giving her a hug. He appreciated April, deeming her as his own sister. Kenai treated April to butter chicken and cheese naan to thank her for babysitting. It wasn't like she had anything else to do or wanted to be anywhere else than with her niece.
Once Lizzy was fed, April set her down in her rocking chair in front of the tv while she ate dinner. She put on Frozen 2 so they both could watch. April probably enjoyed Lizzys company the most out of everyone in the whole world. No doubt she was going to grow into an amazing young woman.
