Chapter...5 Immortal

***Amethyst***

Now, Clyde mouthed. Everything happened so quickly after. A huge rush of adrenaline surged through my body as I grabbed my gemstone out of my wrist and shouted, "Transfiguro!" My gemstone turned into a large crossbow loaded with arrows. I looked at one of the scorch hogs. It was in shock, as it stood there lowering it's bow and arrow. Carefully, I aimed for the scorch hog's chest and fired.

The hog had no time to react. It fell to the floor with arrows buried deep into it's chest. I looked over to where Clyde was. He fought the other scorch hog easily without any signs of hesitation. When he finally defeated the hog, he looked at the civilians. I too, turned around to face them.

"We will protect you from the commander and his scorch hogs." Clyde said with a large amount of confidence in his voice. It surprised me when he spoke. Then he glanced over at me to continue on. I had no idea what to say. Think Amethyst, I thought to myself.

"We will defend this centre," I said as loud and clearly as I could, "And make sure that nobody will have to experience the annual incineration ever again!" I finished. I looked over my shoulder to see that Lady Danielle was the only one cheering. Then, a few people began to join in. Soon enough, everyone in the centre was cheering and shouting. Clyde and I smiled and cheered along. "No! This will not happen!" A voice said coming up from behind me.

Shocked, I turned around to find the scorch hog I had been fighting. How did the creature survive after being shot fifteen times? The hog had an arrow aiming directly towards me. Do something, I told myself, but I couldn't manage to move. Clyde was the first to react. "Transfiguro!" he shouted, but the scorch hog had already shot the arrow.

It felt like everything was in slow motion. The arrow slowly inched towards me. I wanted to move, to scream, to do anything, but it was as if I was frozen in one place. The sharp arrow made it's way through my flesh as a horrible burning pain shot through my body.

My eyes teared up as I let out a small scream. Large black dots danced around my vision making everything unclear and fuzzy. I couldn't breath, move, or even see straight. "Clyde..." I finally managed to say. Blood poured from the wound as a wave of pain surged through my body, causing me to fall over.

Clyde caught me just before I could hit the ground. It hurt. It hurt so badly. Another wave of pain washed through me, as I let out another sharp cry. It was so much stronger. The pain was becoming unbearable. "Oww.......oww it hurts so badly....Clyde I can't...I can't bear...." I was slowly letting go. Clyde didn't hear a word I said because he was too busy screaming at the civilians about something I couldn't quite hear.

I was lying there in Clyde's arms. Groaning, screaming, hyperventilating, gasping-it never seemed to end. The pain was getting worse as every second passed by. Finally, after what had seemed like forever, I passed out into a painless, dark surrounding.

I awoke to the sound of Clyde's voice. "If you have medication, then get it fast!" he was shouting at someone. Then, all at once, it hit me. The pain was back. I screamed so loud I didn't think it was even possible for such a horrible sound to come out of my mouth. "She's awake!" Clyde shouted. "No kidding I'm awake!" I shouted through my gritted teeth.

"Amethyst, you need to relax," Clyde said as a man appeared beside him. "R...relax? Are...you...freaking serious!?" I managed gasp as I felt more pain. "I am Michael, the doctor of the Silvient centre and...." "Just...do what you....have to do!" I yelled at Michael. "Okay then. I will get to the point. We need to remove the arrow from your midsection." he said grabbing onto the arrow.

"This may hurt," he said as he slowly lifted the arrow upwards. I screamed. It was the most horrible sound you could possibly imagine. I felt it all. Every single ounce of pain. Then, I screamed again. And again. And again. And again.

"Don't move!" Micheal said as he continued on pulling the two-foot long arrow out of my stomach. "Don't...move!? Did....did...you....just ask...me not....to move!?" I gasped. Blood poured out of my stomach at a rapid pace. I was loosing too much blood.

Clyde held my hand. I looked at him with tears streaming down my face. "Hang in there for a bit longer sis," he said with confidence in his deep voice. I gasped and nodded. Then, it was over. The arrow was out. My vision started to tint a greyish shade and I gasped for air.

Suddenly, The blood stopped pouring out from my stomach. I caught a glimpse sight of the large wound. The strangest thing was happening. It was closing. The giant wound was closing. I gasped in shock. Before I could say anything, I passed out again.

******************************

I awoke in a different room. There were a few lightbulbs hanging from the low ceiling. I looked around and saw the door swing wide open. Michael and Clyde came into the room and began to talk about something I couldn't quite hear. "Hi! I'm okay guys! A giant arrow was just removed from my stomach and I'm perfectly fine! No need to check on me or anything!" I yelled at them sarcastically.

They turned around to face me. "Oh sorry Amethyst. We just completely forgot you were there." Clyde replied with sarcasm in his voice. "You were supposed to be dead." Michael said randomly. "Well thanks! That makes me feel really special!" I said, but Michael didn't even react to the comment. He was dead serious.

"You were loosing too much blood Amethyst." Clyde said, now as serious as Michael. "You should of been dead. There was no possible way you could of survived, but then the wound literally closed! It's starting to make me feel a little suspicious." Michael said looking at me carefully.

I looked down at my stomach. There was a small cut about one inch long. It looked as if it were just a small paper cut. "I....I don't understand...." "Well I clearly do." Michael said running his hand through his curly brown hair.

"You have no background of where you came from. You don't have a birth certificate or any sort of evidence that you even exist, and no human would be able to survive this kind of a wound. That leads me to two possible conclusions. One; you are not human, and two; you are immortal."

Unfortunately, I agreed with Michael. I didn't even feel human ever since I was at the bloodbath with Clyde. Then, all at once, it came back to me. Small memories flooded back to my mind as I gasped. It all made sense. The gears in my mind we're spinning as all the puzzle pieces finally seemed to fit together. "What is it?" Clyde asked, but I could barely hear him.

From the very beginning, we were immortal. Clyde and I were created to fight off the scorch hogs. It all made perfect sense. The news. The bloodbath. The gems. The sudden rush of adrenaline we felt whenever we saw the scorch hogs. The gears in my mind we're spinning faster and faster as all of this went through my mind within seconds.

"Michael, you're right. You got me. Both Clyde and I are immortal. We are also certainly not human." I said. Michael smiled in satisfaction as those words came out of my mouth. "But if you harm us, you will not be safe from any of the scorch hogs." I said. "What are you talking about Amethyst?" Clyde said obviously confused.

"Clyde, the creation never was destroyed. Jaden Addison must've activated the creation before he died." I said to him. "What would make you think that?" Michael asked also confused. I sighed and explained what had been going through my mind.

"We were born to kill these creatures. These things called scorch hogs. We were meant to stop the annual incineration from the day we were activated." I said. "Activated?" Michael and Clyde asked at the exact same time. I looked at them with my expression dead serious.

I paused for a moment before speaking. "Clyde and I.....we are going to save these four remaining centres. We are going to stop the annual incineration because we are The New Generation."
