Chapter 4...Gemstones

***Amethyst***

"You gals can go upstairs and wash off. I'll have a new set of clothes for you when you're done." Lady Danielle said. I looked down at my clothes. They were dirty and filthy with grime. "Thank you very much Lady Danielle." I said smiling at her. "No problem." she said handing me and Clyde a towel.

We walked up the winding, wooden staircase and into the bathroom. The walls of the bathroom were made of white, shiny tiles and the floor was made of a greyish-pearl coloured stone. There was a toilet and sink pressed tightly against the wall and a clear, glass shower located in front of the sink. Four small light bulbs dangled weightlessly from the low, white ceiling, illuminating the large room with fluorescent light.

I sighed. "This casita seems to be getting better by the moment." Clyde mumbled. I rested my right hand on a small counter beside the sink, when I felt something hard press gently against my wrist. I looked down to find a bracelet wrapped firmly around my wrist. There was a small, round hole located in the centre of the bracelet. It was as hard as rock. It wasn't until I touched the hole when I realized it wasn't a bracelet at all. It was a tattoo. The hole wasn't part of the bracelet. There was a giant hole in my wrist.

"It's crazy, isn't it?" Clyde said to me sighing. "What?" I asked looking up at Clyde, momentarily forgetting the tattoo and hole on my wrist. "The news. How there are four centres left. How we are all going to die eventually. You're not the least bit scared?" he asked me.

"Of course I'm scared Clyde. Why wouldn't I be? It's just...I feel as if I want to do something about it. Even though I can't. Do you know what I mean?" I asked. "Yeah. I know what you mean. I think-" he gasped turning around. "What? Are you okay?" I asked in concern. "Turn around." he said. Feeling a little unsure, I slowly turned around. What I saw made me jump in astonishment.

A mirror. Two mirrors. There were two large, circular mirrors attached to the wall. I was looking directly into the eyes of an amazingly beautiful girl. I was looking at.....me. This couldn't possibly be me. I had silky, long, dark-brown hair, high cheekbones, skin as white as snow, and the lightest, pure, blue eyes that reminded me of a crystal-clear ocean. My ears were pointy and small, I had full lips, and I had the smallest, tiniest freckles that were dotted along my cheeks and the bridge of my nose. Still in shock, I slowly looked beside me where Clyde was standing. He was just as astonished as I was.

We both had the same features. High cheekbones, full lips, small ears, and the same pure, blue eyes. The only difference was our skin tone. Clyde's skin tone was slightly more tanned than mine, as if he had been lying out in the sun for a long time. "We are definitely related." I said to Clyde. He nodded in agreement. "I'll shower first." I said. "I think I may need to wake up from this amazing dream of mine." He smiled.

"Oh Amethyst. You're not that pretty." Clyde laughed. I laughed along with him. "I'm pretty enough. Come on, be honest. I don't think you're unfortunate looking at all. You're actually quite a handsome boy." I said honestly. "Well...thanks. I was kidding you know." he said to me. "I know." I said. "Honestly, I think you're really attractive. Like, you're sexy attractive. Believe me, my life would be ten times better if we weren't related at all." he said.

I gushed and grabbed my towel. "Don't look." I said to Clyde. "But we're related-" "Seriously. Don't look." I said to him. He sighed and looked away, clearly disappointed. I quickly took my clothes off and wrapped the towel around my body. "Okay, you can turn around now." I said. He turned around and picked up the dirty sweater I had been wearing. "You almost forgot something." He said pulling out the beautiful purple gemstone.

"Thanks! I completely forgot about the gemstone!" I said grabbing the fine piece of amethyst from his hand. "Do you think it does something?" Clyde asked. "What do you mean?" I asked. "I don't know. Maybe it's magical or something. Say something to it." he said. I frowned in confusion. "You want me to speak to a mineral? Really?" I asked. "Just say something! Who cares? Nobody's watching!" he said. I sighed and said the first thing that came to my mind. "I love the soup here. What about you?" I asked the gemstone stupidly.

I waited a minute. Nothing happened. "Satisfied?" I asked Clyde. "No. Say something else." he said. "Why am I doing this again?" I asked. "Because something might happen. How often do you find a large, perfect piece of amethyst in you're dirty sweater pocket?" he said obviously making his point. I sighed and looked at the small gem. Why am I doing this, I thoughtto myself. "Uh....Transfiguro." I finally said to the mineral.

Nothing happened. A few seconds passed in complete silence, as we were waiting for it to do something. "I told you, this is stupid-" my sentence was cut short as the gemstone started to transform. The gemstone let off a blinding, bright light causing me to close my eyes. When the light began to die down, the room became darker once again. I slowly opened my eyes. In my hand, was the three-foot long metal blade I had left at the bloodbath.

"Woah." Clyde gasped in awe. "How did that....become....that?" he said in confusion. "Check you're pocket." I said to Clyde. He looked at his t-shirt. "I don't have a pocket." he said looking upset. "Yeah you do. Right there." I said pointing at his pocket. "I don't see it." he said looking for it. "Here," I said reaching in his shirt pocket. "Oh, there....uh Amethyst?" he stared at me blankly.
"Yeah?"
"Your....your...."
"What?"
"Um...your towel..."
I looked at my left hand-which was placed in Clyde's pocket. Then I looked at my right hand-which was holding the sword. I looked down to find my towel on the ground. I cursed quietly under my breath and slapped Clyde across the face. "Ow! What the heck was that for!?" he said. "You don't just stare at me when I'm naked!" I said as I picked up the fallen towel. "Uh...I wasn't staring..." he said as his checks turned red with embarrassment. "Then what were you doing?" I asked.

He paused for a moment, not sure what to say next. "I didn't see anything." he said. "You are such a bad liar." I said to him. "I'm gonna go shower now. You take one peek, and I swear to god you'll be sorry!" I warned him. "Well, I technically already saw you...you know...naked..." Clyde started. I slapped him even harder across the face. "OWW!" he yelled in pain. "Don't even think about it." I said turning the shower on. "God, women these days..." he groaned rubbing his red cheek.

Once we finished showering, we headed downstairs wearing our new clothes that Lady Danielle had provided for us. "Hey, Amethyst?" he asked nudging me. "Yeah?" I replied. "I have one too. You know, the gem. When you were showering, I looked into my pocket and it was there. Odd, isn't it?" he looked at me waiting for a reply. "Yeah, I guess so. Do you think the gems...weapons...whatever it is, reappear in our pocket every time we lose them?" I asked.

"Maybe. I don't know. Do you want to try it?" he asked. "Sure." I said throwing my gem down the stairs. Within seconds of falling, the purple gemstone vanished in mid-air. I put one hand into my pocket and found the hard, purple gemstone. "It's there. In my pocket." I said to Clyde. "Well....what if we don't have a pocket?" he asked. "Great question Clyde. Why don't you take your clothes off and find out?" I said sarcastically. He glared at me.

Surprisingly, his pants or shirt didn't have a pocket. "Throw it down. You don't have pockets." I said to him. He threw his gemstone down the stairs. It vanished almost immediately. "Uh...where did it go?" I asked. Clyde shrugged and then winced, as if something had hurt him. "Are you okay?" I asked in concern.

He pulled up his shirt sleeve and looked at his wrist. It was just like mine. His wrist was tattooed, with a hole in the very centre....or what was once a hole. Instead of the hole was the gemstone. His was a dark, sapphire-blue coloured stone that looked like the ocean. "This is creeping me out." Clyde said taking the gemstone out of his wrist.

"It's sapphire. Your stone is made of sapphire." I said. "Are you gals ready? Or are you just going to wait at the top of the stairs?" Lady Danielle shouted from below us. "Yeah, we're coming." I shouted and pulled my gemstone out if my pocket. I placed it in the hole in my wrist and felt a warm, burning sensation. It was tucked carefully in my wrist and nobody would be able to steal it.

"Ah, there you gals are! It took you long enough!" Lady Dannielle exclaimed. "Sorry, we were just-" I was cut short by a loud booming sound. It came from outside the casita. "Oh no." Lady Danielle said in fear. "They have arrived."
