Chapter 7...Dreams

***Amethyst***

"Okay you two. Time to get some rest. Wake up whenever you feel like getting up." Lady Danielle said smiling. "Thanks again, you know, for the soup and all." I said smiling back at her. "No problem! There are two beds upstairs located in the guest room. Just head straight once you reach the top of the staircase. Goodnight you two!" she said smiling. "Goodnight." Clyde and I said at the same time. We both turned around and began to walk up the wooden staircase, each step creaking ever so slightly.

I opened the bedroom door and looked inside. It was a large room with two single beds and a small shelf. Other than that, the room was pretty much empty. "You call this a guest room?" Clyde asked clearly unsatisfied. I glared at him. "At least we have two beds to sleep on." I said lying down on one of the two beds. "I guess." he said lying down on the other. Within minutes of lying down, both Clyde and I fell into a deep sleep.

The strangest thing happened to me that night. I had visions...I don't know...memories? Except they were all scattered. I didn't have a word to describe it. "It's called a dream." a voice whispered. "A dream?" I asked. The voice didn't respond. "Hello? Are you still there?" I asked in concern. Suddenly, the bright colour of sunlight blinded me, almost causing me to fall over. I held my hand out in front of my face, to try and block the blinding light. When my eyes finally adjusted to the sunlight, I slowly dropped my hand and looked around. I found myself surrounded by piles of broken toys, gadgets, wood, windows...almost anything you could imagine.

"Where am I?" I whispered to myself. "In the Wasteland." someone said coming up from behind me. I turned around to find a young boy. He looked about ten years old and had shaggy, amber-red coloured hair. His eyes were large and green, and his lips were small and dry. "What's the Wasteland?" I asked.

"It's a place where people throw away everything that they don't need. I come here daily to find cool gadgets and toys to keep." he smiled. "Isn't that called stealing?" I asked. The boy shook his head. "No one cares about the Wasteland anymore. So basically, it's not stealing." he said in a matter-of-fact tone, but the word anymore caught my attention. "What do you mean anymore?" I asked. He smiled. "You'll find out soon." he said as my curiosity grew wildly.

"What's your name kid?" I asked. "Well it's definitely not 'kid.'" he said smiling mischievously. I was starting to get annoyed now. "Seriously, what is your name?" I asked once again. The boy laughed. "I can't tell you. You're a stranger." he said walking away. I sighed hopelessly and was about to walk away, when the boy turned around. "You ask a lot of questions." he said and smiled. "I'll call you...curiosity." he finally decided. I frowned in confusion. Curiosity? Of all names he chooses Curiosity?

The boy turned around once again and continued to walk away. "Wait," I said as he turned around once more to face me. "You named me, so I get to name you." I said to him. "Uh, okay." he said waiting for me to say something. "Thief." I said smiling. "What!? Why that?" the boy frowned angrily. I sighed. "Fine. I'll call you thief....y. Theify." I said mentally slapping myself. You couldn't think of anything but Thiefy? The boy frowned, and then turned around once more. "Fine with me." he said walking away. The scene began to melt away and another scene took it's place.

"We're on their side." Clyde said. I stared at him in disbelief. "No, there's a reason why we came here." I said sternly. He looked up at me and smiled as his skin began to melt away. "Clyde...Clyde! W...what's happening to you!?" I shouted in concern. As his skin melted away, a new shape took form; the commander. "What....what did you do to Clyde!?" I screamed, as I found myself beginning to shake in fear. "Oh, don't worry about Clyde. He's already dead." The commander said smiling evilly. I screamed as the scene shifted once again.

I found myself walking down a long hallway. A very long hallway; you couldn't see the end of it. A weak, old lightbulb hung from every other tile on the ceiling, providing hardly any light for me to see. Suddenly, I heard a soft screeching noise. It had almost sounded like somebody was crying for help. The noise send a cold, shiver down my spine. My gut was telling me something bad was about to happen.

The noise sounded again and I began to get a little frightened. My pace quickened, and I found myself jogging down the poorly illuminated hallway, hoping there would be an exit somewhere soon. What came next made me scream. Something had grabbed me by the waist; it felt like two wrinkly, cold dry hands had grabbed me. The hands pulled me down roughly to the ground. I thrashed and screamed to try to get the hands (or whatever they were) to release me, but surprisingly, the two hands held an extremely firm grip on my waist.

"Will you shut up and stop moving!" someone shouted, but I continued to cry for help. After about what had seemed like forever, I finally settled down, knowing I had wasted all of my energy trying to break free. "Who are you.....and what on earth.....do you want." I gasped out of breath. "Hear me out little girl. You are forbidden to be in this area. You must leave. I'll return your little boyfriend...Cameron was it? Anyways, I'll get him for you soon enough, okay?" the person said. I managed to turn around and face the person.

It was an older woman with dark brown hair that looked black in the dim lighting. Not understanding why, I said, "Promise? Do you promise you'll get him back?" Tears began to fill my eyes. The woman smiled. "Sweetheart, you know I'd do anything for you. Now go! I'll see you on the other side of the-" the scene ended into darkness cutting her off in mid sentence.

I was suddenly outside in the forest with Clyde. The sky was dark, but full of bright stars. Clyde held a small, wooden torch in his hands as we walked through the woods. "We will be there soon. I promise." Clyde said to me reassuringly. I realized that I had been shivering from the cold weather. "Do you want to stop and build a fire?" Clyde asked, obviously noticing that I was cold.
"No. I'm good."
"Well, you look like you're freezing."
"I'm fine. If we are almost there, then I'll survive."
"But you should seriously-"
"I said no."
Without saying another word, Clyde continued to walk through the woods as I followed him. Eventually, the scene faded into complete darkness. After that, I only heard words. Voices. Chants. Whatever it was, it kept repeating a.....poem:

The dark forest will begin to awake
But a boy and girl have made a mistake
They think they're immortal forevermore
But of course they haven't opened the hidden door
For within that door there is a room
That will bring the entire world to doom
So you better watch out for the hidden door
Or you will both be human forevermore

I awoke to the sound of Clyde's voice. "Morning. Breakfast is ready." Clyde said as he walked away from me. I rolled my eyes. "You didn't even ask me if I had a good sleep? Or if the bed was comfortable? Or-" "Sorry Amethyst," Clyde said rolling his eyes, "But not everything is about you. I'm hungry. I want breakfast. Come down when you're ready." he said and walked out of the door. "Learn how to be a gentleman!" I screamed, but he was already gone. I sighed and got out of bed, still remembering the voices, visions........dreams, that I had last night.
