Chapter 10...The Death Tree
***Clyde***
"Hey!" I shouted at Randy. He was running so fast that I was afraid he was trying to escape. I sprinted after the hog and cut him off. "Hey," I said, barely even panting. "Just because I'm not as mean as my sister, doesn't mean I don't have the guts to kill you." I said to him. Randy looked at me with a confused face. "What are you talking about?" he asked.
I glared at him. "You were trying to run away." I said a bit confused. "What? No, Clyde, I was trying to look for the goddamn death tree you moron." he said barring his fangs at me. That was it. A sudden wave of adrenaline surged through my body as I punched Randy in the face. Hard.
"What the hell was that for!?" he spat as I clasped my hand around his neck. "You listen to me now," I yelled. "Don't ever talk to me like that again. Just because you're helping us, doesn't mean that you're not one of them. You are a disgusting, evil creature, and when me and Amethyst wipe out your entire race, I'll make sure you'll be there, dying alongside of your fellow scorch hogs. Do I make myself clear?" I said angrily.
The hog nodded in fear as I slowly released my hand from his neck. The hog fell to the ground gasping for air. "Now tell me, why on earth were you running?" I asked. "I was trying to get to the tree before it disappears." he said. Okay, this guy was definitely insane.
"Disappears?" I asked in disbelief. "Yes, disappears. Every midnight, the tree disappears, so no one can enter or attack our fortress while we're sleeping." he said. "Well, what time is it now?" I asked Randy. It was pretty dark outside. "How am I supposed to know? I don't have a freaking watch." Randy said. I sighed and pulled out my gemstone.
"Transfiguro," I mumbled as it turned into a watch. "It's quarter to," he said glancing at my watch. "What does that mean?" I asked. Randy rolled his eyes. "It's eleven forty-five." he said. "Well why didn't you just say that in the first place?" I asked.
"What?" Randy asked in confusion. "You know, you didn't have to say 'quarter to.' You could of just told me it was eleven forty-five." I said. "No because what I said was faster and...you know what, forget it. You immortals
are so...weird." Randy said as he kept on walking towards the tree. "Amethyst lets go-" I stopped in mid sentence and realized that Amethyst wasn't behind me.My heart dropped. Where was she? What if she was hurt? "Randy wait," I said as the hog turned around. "My sister's...gone." I said as Randy rolled his eyes. "Go find her," he said, "I'll wait here."
I snickered. "Yeah right. Your coming with me."********************************
"Are you sure you know where you're heading?" I asked Randy. We've been walking for an hour now, and all I could see were giant garbage piles. "There's no point of heading back. The death tree has obviously disappeared by now." Randy said as we kept on walking. "I know. We are going to have to camp in this dump for the night." I said. "And by the way, you still didn't answer my question." I said.
"And what was that?" Randy asked. "Are we lost?" I asked. Randy didn't respond. "Great," I signed, "we're definitely lost."

Another hour passed by and I started to feel tired. There was still no sight of Amethyst, but I knew I needed to sleep sooner or later. I looked over at Randy beside me. He looked like he was going to pass out any second. "Why don't we sleep for a couple of hours before searching again." I suggested.
Immediately, Randy nodded in agreement. "I'll take first watch though," Randy said. "Yeah, I'm sorry, but there is no way I'm going to let you take first watch." I said. "Why? You don't trust me?" Randy asked. I smiled. "Actually, that's exactly why I don't want you on first watch. I do not trust you at all." I said.
