shuichi flipped through his notebook as he dreamed about the next day - he was going to catch and stop the infamous phantom theif once and for all.
the anonymous troublemaker had been robbing banks, stealing precious jewels etc. they were going to strike again the next night, and shuichi knew exactly where the location was.
everytime before a robbery, two days prior, a note will be left as a "clue" to where they were going to strike next.
although the notes were written in a poem format, it was quite easy to tell where they were going to strike; except there were always hundreds of possibilities.
that was one of the theif's tricks, leave a clue that would flash to a thousand of possibilities so that they would never be sure of the exact location.
the recent clue was just as decieving. the following reads -
people usually say
diamonds don't glow
they reflectit was short and simple. it was the most unusual one yet, being the strangest as it did not take up a poem format.
but a certain navy-haired detective that has been working on this case for 4 months managed to see through it, they were going to a well-known piano player's party to steal one of the world's largest jewels - the big red.
the big red was a large ruby, pretty obvious. and it was being shown at the occasion because it happened to attract many worldwide tourists, giving the musician, kaede akamatsu, publicity.
shuichi continued to ponder about the endless posibilities that might happen next night.
---
"no, saihara, we are sure he is going to strike for the red diamond collection at 'embrasé'." an officer refused.
shuichi sighed, it looked like he was going to do this by himself.
he picked up his phone and left the office, it was already 7pm. in previous heists, the theif had striked at 8:30pm exactly.
he got into his car and drove to where kaede was hosting her party. "shuichi! so glad you could make it!" kaede squealed as she hugged her best friend.
"ah, no problem.." shuichi glanced around until his eyes landed on the stone that was going to be gone by tonight.
"hey.. you seem stressed. what did i say about overworking yourself?" kaede frowned. "let's get you some refreshments by the snack table," she suggested as she took shuichi by the hand. it was already 8:20, shuichi took a sip of water as kaede continued chatting.
"hey shuichi?" shuichi turned his head. "you seem a bit.. tense. is something wr-" she was cut off by the circuit suddenly breaking.
at this point, shuichi knew exactly what to do. he took out his flashlight he had brought along and marched his way over to the jewel.
"nee-heehee! you're finally mi-" a purple-haired boy stood there, admirimg the stone. "hey! too bright-" he opened his eyes, realising that it wasn't one of his members.
"omigod! it's my favouriteeee detective!" he grinned. "stop right there and put down the jewel," shuichi coldly stated.
"okay.." the theif lowered the jewel. "but you'll have to catch me first!"
the theif ran to the stairs and shuichi followed, tripping on every 5 steps or so.
"aw, my detective is chasing me!" the theif teased, they were on the roof now. "your schemes are over, theif," shuichi said.
the theif let out a laugh. "okie doke! you got me." he stepped closer to the detective who was now shaking.
he kept getting closer until their noses were already touching. then, the theif cleared the space between them.
shuichi gasped in shock, his rival who he had been hunting for 4 months was kissing him? suddenly, he felt his hands being clasped to something. "nishishi! see ya next time mr detective!" the theif said as he ran off.
shuichi looked down and realised he had been handcuffed. "mr saihara! are you okay?" a cop came running up. shuichi nodded as two caps helped his hands free.
this game was not over, shuichi did not want to face defeat.
until next time, theif.
