tw; mention of r*pe

the cold sting of the night air wasn't the most unsettling thing for kokichi; it was the emptiness of the area. there was no one, not a single soul lingered except kokichi.

the street lamps ahead flickered on and off as he took out his mobile phone and dialed almost everyone he knew.

it was 3am, why would anyone be answering? kokichi let out a sigh as he dialed the last number, expecting it to go to voicemail. but on the third ring, someone picked up.

"ouma-kun?"

kokichi's face immediately lit up, mostly from the light illuminating on his face from the street lamps. "saihara-chan! how are you?"

"it's 3am and you're calling me, how are YOU?" shuichi let out an overexaggerated sigh. "what do you need?"

"could you pick me up? i'm on fifth avenue street near that crappy club."

--

"so, want to explain why you were out there at 3am covered in bruises?" shuichi asked as kokichi sat in the passenger's seat.

"y'know, the usual. i go on a date, they suggest we go back to their apartment, i refuse, so they drive off and leave me in an alley where i almost got non-consensually hooked up. so then i ran here for safety, the place i've been standing helplessly for 2 hours."

shuichi stared at the petite boy with a frown, but turned back and started driving off.

"you should really get better dates these days," shuichi said as he flicked through radio stations on his car.

"i know," kokichi frowned, "there's this one guy, but he'd never go on a date with me."

"how do you know? have you asked him yet?"

kokichi shook his head, a grin plastered on his face.

"nah, i think he likes someone else, anyway."

shuichi gave him a puzzling look but ignored it. "you know, i've liked him for awhile now, but he's just too oblivious. we've been friends for a long time, too."

shuichi nodded, signalling for kokichi to go on.

"i love every thing about him, his hair, his cute personality, and oh my god, his eyes. they're beautiful."

"-and what's funny is, he's picked me up from so many failed dates but still doesn't know."

the car swerved to a stop as shuichi stared at kokichi. "you.. like me?"

kokichi laughed nervously, "of course, dumbass! took you long enough."

"would.. you like to go on a date with me sometime? shuichi?"

the raven-haired male cheeks turned pink as he nodded, eyes drooping.

"maybe, just this time, you'll be driving me back to your place."
