Joy
"I heard Hera is accepting her existence very well."
I sat on the rock and smiled faintly. Jeongyeon stood in front of me as I stared at the mountains, we were on our way to Seoul, apparently Busan was under attack, and Sal-inja offered us protection for the mean time.
"She has to. She's the fiance of the boss, Byeongsa Familia now," I told her. Jeongyeon was the daughter of my father's made man, and my best friend. "Thank you for accompanying me to Seoul," I said.
"Don't be silly," she winked. I chuckled and stared ahead, I knew it was a sign of upcoming war, and it would end up with bloodbath. Even though I have always been a black sheep of family, not really interested in this business, I knew what was happening around me.
I could smell blood.
"I am silly," I mumbled. "In all of my 17 years, I have ignored the person I am, and lived in the stupid dream of normal life," I lowered my head and chuckled bitterly. "See, now the reality of my life is glaring back to me."
Jeongyeon sighed. "It's not your fault for wanting to be normal. I dreamed of it too, but I'm also accepting it slowly."
I nodded. Glancing over my shoulder, I saw Kai, my bodyguard chatting with other men and sighed. "It sucks. I wish I could run away from here... somewhere far away."
"They'll hunt you to the end of the earth Joy," my friend smiled sadly. "There's no way out."
"I know," I breathed out.
"Did Sungjae call you?" she asked quietly.
I stared at the sun setting, and then glanced at Jeongyeon. "He's focusing on tracing his father's steps. He broke up with me sister, I doubt he'll call again," I muttered. My heart hurt thinking of him but it was for the betterment, he wanted to become a good soldier in front of father's eyes so that father could accept him for me. I just hope someday he would ask for my hand, and we would get married. I refused to marry for a bloody peace.
I was not Tzuyu, nor was I Hera.
I was Park Joy. A selfish girl. And I wanted out.
