Intelligence

He was burdened,
With such understanding,
Of everything around him,
Including the world.
He sought to have a friend,
And instead got simplicity.
'Tis the price of intelligence,
Promised the old man,
Who once was in his shoes.
He seeked the stars,
So far away
With the galaxy running
Down his eyes.
But it was too far,
For his tiny mind,
Which became a race,
To reach the universe.
He wanted everyone to understand,
That life isn't all about living.
It was about dying--
Dying to become someone significant,
Someone to make a great change,
For the sake of this selfish humanity.
