CHAPTER 39: United

YOUR POV

The day that both Guanlin and i have been waiting for finally comes. We've been planning to do this for the past few months already since the day both of us became king and queen and today it's finally going to happen. The barrier between the land of snow and ice is finally coming down and be gone forever making the whole winter kingdom United once again.

Both of our people have known this before hand through a proclamation and decided to make this day really special by marking this date and celebrating it yearly. To be honest I was really surprise by how accepting they got but soon I learned that all of them just want peace and quiet which never happened ever since the feud between our grandparents.

I walk in a little path created in the middle of festive booths with playing children and celebrating adults. Those who notice me gave me a little bow and some smiled which I don't really mind that much, as long as they're okay with me being their leader I don't mind if they don't bow and just smile.

While walking around I got to observe my surroundings, mother is busy talking with some women by the jewelry booth, Father is talking with Guanlin's father about some random stuff and meanwhile my brother, uh he's messing around with the food by the table in the corner making me call him.

"Junhui!" I said making him look at me just as he was about to eat the bread on his hands

"Leave me and my bread alone" he said making me Chuckle

"Your bread? That's for everyone not yours" I said and he frowned making me laugh

"Fine, go eat i'll leave you alone" I said before going a head

While walking around I notice Guanlin playing with some familiar kids in front of me making me look at them in awe and with a smile on the face. Soon one of the kids noticed me and run up to me crossing the now torn down barrier before giving me a hug

"Sunhee" she said before hugging my knees as she's too short to hug me by the waist instead.

I look down on her before crouching down to her level so she won't get a stiff neck from all the looking up she'll be doing.

"Long time no see" I said before pinching her tiny nose

"Why did you go missing in action on us?" She asked while playing with her finger making me look at Guanlin for answers, because if i explain her what just happen I am sure she won't understand anything because she's still young

"Sunhee didn't go missing in action she just needs rest so she wasn't able to play with you guys in the village" he said wearing the sweetest smile

"Really?" The kid asked before looking at me

"Of course" I said before she clapped happily

"Should we play now then!" She cheerfully said but sadly I need to decline her

"Later, i'll join you guys later for now I still have something to do okay?" I said and gladly she understood

"Okay!" She said before leaving to play with her friends

I stood up and now I am face to face with Guanlin, i smiled at him and he returned before he holds my left hand with his right while his left rest on his pockets

"How's everything so far?" He asked as we started walking around

"Everything's good so far" I said as I look around too

"Those kids missed you so much, you didn't show up and played with them for like a month and a half" he said making me look at him with a pout

"It's not that I mean it, i miss and love them too but you know how busy we got up just to plan all of this, only if we could have them beside us as we plan to bring the barrier down back then, then they won't miss me this much" I said and he smiled but looking straight ahead

"Then do you want to keep one by our side?" He said as if it's the easiest thing to do

"What?" I asked trying to confirm what heard

"Do you want to have one for yourself?" He repeated and this time he look at me seriously

"Seriously?" I asked really confused

"Don't you want one?" He said and I shook my head

"It's not like that, i mean we're not even married yet so why have children first" I said my voice getting silent as I go on, embarrassed to say those things

"Then shall we get married?" He asked not sure if he's joking or serious this time making me let go of his hands and face him, so he look at me confused

"Gunalin you know this is not a funny joke right?" I said and he face me too

"I know" he said keeping his looks neutral

"Then why do you keep on saying things as if it's just a joke and easy done" I said getting really frustrated making my tears whelm up

"Who said I was joking?" He said before pulling his left hand out of his pocket only to reveal a box made out of ice and knelt down

I stared at him with round eyes filled with shock, and by this time I am sure everyone's attention was on us already as our surroundings got silent.

"Will you marry me and spend the rest of our lives together?" He asked and now the tears I was trying to hold finally fell down

I look at him in the eye and nodded making him stood up with the proudest smile before embracing me into a warm hug, everyone clapped for us but the only things we can focus right now is each other. I hug him tighter as I bury my face on his chest not minding if i get his clothes wet because of my tears making him chuckle and kiss the top of my head.

"I will never joke when it comes to you, always remember that" he said making me nod softly before enjoying this very moment
