The trek to Mesopotamia wasn't easy. Especially with the ten camels the servant of Abraham, had to bring along, together with some goods. After a long journey, he finally reached the gate of the city and rested by it. The city he had to leave behind when his master left to follow God's command.

It had been a lot of years since Abraham had almost sacrificed his son.  Isaac was finally grown enough to get married. Sadly, Sarah had died a while ago. Abraham still grieved her and his household did too.

A few days ago, Abraham had called his servant and made him swear to go search for a wife for Isaac in his hometown

"I don't want a wife from here, Canan. Go to my hometown to search for a wife for him"

"But master, what if the lady refuses to come. Do I have to take Isaac to meet her?" he had asked and Abraham quickly responded.

"Make sure you do not take my son there, even if the lady refuses"

After swearing, he set out on his journey the following day.

As he sat down by the gate, he remembered the well that was by it. That was where the ladies of the city came out at night to draw water.

He suddenly realised how thirsty and tired he was. He still had to search for a fit wife for his master's son but his exhaustion made him long for an easy way out.

"Oh Lord..." he began " please let the lady I tell to draw water for me and my camels to drink, be the one that you have destined to marry Isaac"

And as if it was planned, a beautiful fair young woman came out to draw water from the well.

That was fast
He murmured as quickly stood up to meet her.
"I beg you young lady " he said upon reaching her " let me drink water from your pitcher "

The lady, a little startled, looked up at him and saw how thirsty he looked.

"Of course my Lord" she said handing it to him " I'm sure you've had a long tiring journey"

She then noticed the ten camels behind him by the gate and knew the animals would be thirsty too.

"I will help to draw water for your camels too, until they are hydrated " she said with a smile. Her father would surely understand when he finds out she helped someone by the way. There was not much to do at home anyway.

After minutes that felt like hours of drawing water for them. She finally sighed as she gave her arms a little stretch.

"Thank you" he said after he had kept quiet, trying to observe her.

"It was my pleasure " she smiled at him. He then reached into the sack of one of the camels and brought out a golden earring and two golden bracelets, giving it to her.

"Whose daughter are you, may I lodge with you for the night?"

She turned out to be Rebekah, the grand nephew of Abraham's brother Nahor.

"We have enough room and feed for your camels. I won't be long, let me quickly inform my family" with that she ran to her mother's house, with the bangles on her wrist and the earring in her palm.

"Rebekah is that you? " her brother, Laban said when she entered. He looked at her just to confirm " where is the water you went to draw?" He asked surprised she could lie only to see the brilliant golden bangles on her wrist.

He walked towards her in disbelief and held her hand, seeing the golden earring in her palm. " Rebekah, where did you get these?"

"It was a gift from a man I met by the well. I drew him and his camels water and he gave them to me" her brother let go of her and smiled

"Wow, Rebekah. Who knew something this good would come out from your benevolence towards strangers" he laughed and she frowned at him, crossing her arms.

"That doesn't matter, he asked if he could lodge here for the night " immediately she said this, his head quickly snapped towards her.

"What? What are you waiting for?" He quickly ran into the spare room and tidied up the place, before running out with her to the servant.

"Is that him?" He asked when they reached the well side, pointing to a man beside it. She nodded and he quickly met him.

"You are welcome to lodge with us my Lord. I have prepared a place for you and your camels" he said as politely as he could, to get on the man's good side.

The servant thanked him and followed him to their house as Rebekah quickly drew water from the well.

Once he arrived, he was greeted by Rebekah's mother. His camels were then given feed to eat and he, water to wash his sore feet.

Laban tried to offer him meet to eat but he refused.
"I cannot eat until I finish my errand "

"What errand?" Laban asked.

With that he told them about his master. How rich and blessed he was and that he was sent to get his son a wife. He told them of the prayer he made and how Rebakah had showed up and fulfilled his request.

Before Rebekah could say anything, he brought out silver and jewellery and gave them to Laban, his mother and Rebekah. They then ate and drank for the rest of the night.

The next morning, the servant woke up and requested for Rebekah so they could return to Canan.

"Wait a little my Lord" her mother said, a little sad " let her stay for a couple of days before she has to leave so we can say our goodbyes well.

The servant smiled but still refused " please do not let me wait much longer. I have to return to my master." Her mother's face fell at this but she called her daughter anyway.

"Would you want to leave now to get married my dear" she asked.

"Yes I would" she said confidently. She had thought about it all night and had already got herself ready. It was normal for the girls to get married off this way anyway.

With tears in her mother's eyes, she hugged her tightly, Laban came to hug them too.

"My beautiful little sister " he said smiling sadly as he turned to face her after the hug " I guess I'm going to miss your annoying benevolent nature in this house" she hugged him again.

"I'm going to miss you too big brother"

After her family blessed her, she set off with a few damels on the camels' backs and started her journey to Canan.

Once they got to a field near Lahairoi in Canan, Rebakah noticed a man meditating.

"Who is that?" She asked, noticing he was the only one there. The servant looked up and his eyes widened in recognition.

"That's my master's son" she smiled and quickly got down from her camel, putting her veil over her face.

The two of them walked towards him and he stood up on noticing them. Rebekah quickly noticed how handsome he was from up close and bent her head sheepishly.

"Greetings my Lord" the servant said bowing his head.

"Who's the lady" he asked in a low voice, trying not to think the worst of his father. The servant told him what happen and his eyes widened in realization.

He turned towards her and lifted up her veil.
"Your beautiful " he smiled at her. He took her hand and drew her to his mother's old tent. Finally, he was relieved from his mother's death
