Abram, Sarai and Lot

Genesis chapter 12 and 13

Abram's POV

As I made my way towards South with my wife, Sarai and my brother's son Lot, I began to recount what had happened since God's call.

He had called me to leave my father's house to a place I knew not of. He promised to make me a great nation, to bless those that blessed me and curse those that cursed me. He said He would make my name great and make me a blessing...

Who am I to question my Lord anyway. I had to obey Him eventhough it felt a little sudden. I took my wife, nephew and our possessions and left without hesitation.

On my way, I had built two alters unto him. He had promised to give my generations the land I journeyed on. I kept going on and obeying him but now there was famine.

We made our way to Egypt finally but I suddenly became scared eventhough we'd found a solution to the suffering that came with famine.

I turned towards my wife as she smiled at me. Her eyes sparkled under the hot sun and her long dark hair was tied up to prevent herself from getting hot.

She was tall with beautiful fair skin and an amazing smile that was sure to invoke lust in a man.

"My beautiful beautiful wife" I said, placing my palm on her soft cheeks. She frowned in concern as she saw my sadness clearly written on my face.

"What's wrong?"

"When the Egyptians see you they will want to have you by all means, even if it means killing me"

"Oh" she said, looking down at her feet "so do we find somewhere else to go?"

"No, that will definitely not be safe. Please Sarai, I need you to say you are my sister " she sharply looked up at me but I continued before she could interrupt me " if you do that, they will have no reason to kill me, I will be safe and so will you."

She slowly nodded although it hurt me to see her do that. I loved her with all my heart and I didn't want to share her with another. I had to say it eventhough I was at the same time, convincing myself that it was the best thing to do.

We made our way into Egypt and soon enough Pharaoh requested for her presence. She was taken into his house while I was gifted with sheep, oxen, asses, maidservants and man servants. Sarai was also gifted with camels and asses.

But I should have know God would frown against that. He terribly plagued the house of Pharaoh and we were sent out from Egypt after Pharaoh found out about our little lie.

With no where else to go, we went back to our tent which we had built on the way between Bethel and Hai.

I had all my possessions, flocks, herds and tents but so did Lot and we could no longer stay together in order to maintain peace.

We ended up separating, Lot headed to the east to the plain of Jordan which was well watered and there inhabited the land of Sodom and Gomorrah; while I headed west which God later gave to me and I built another alter onto him.

A lot of things happened till chapter 17. Sarai was barren so she gave her maid servant, Hagar to Abram for him to get a son. But of course, she became jealous of Hagar and dealt with her harshly. This made Hagar run away but the Lord called her back, promising to multiply her seed exceedingly. She then bore Abram a son, Ishmael.

The Lord then promised Abram a son of his own, although I seemed very funny to him and his wife, considering the fact that they were both very old. He then changed their names to Abraham and Sarah and made a rule that every male already in and also born into their family had to be circumcised.

So all of them were circumcised, including Abram and his thirteen year old son Ishmael.
