We had eaten dinner together in a nice silence. Strangely the bearded trooper from previous time, Tim, was nowhere to be found.
I felt stares on my back. I was still wearing Kylo's cloak, which drew quite the amount of attention. But I didn't allow them to ruin the moment.
"I noticed you like stars." Matt rubbed the back of his head. "Would you like to go star gazing, but then you know... in Kylo's private quarters." Matt's eyes revealed some nervousness. "You liked that view, right?"
I blushed. "Yes, I would like that. Sweet of you to remember and notice what I like..." I took our joined hands and placed a kiss on top of his.Every stormtrooper saluted as we passed by, they thought I was the real Kylo Ren.
I couldn't blame them since they couldn't see my face, hidden by the hood.
I heard Matt chuckle as I proudly walked through the hall with intimidating strides.
"Do you think it's funny?" I imitated Kylo's deep robotic voice. "If you dare to laugh..." I held my hand out as if I was about to Force choke Matt.
Matt grabbed towards his throat. "No please, give me another chance."
I lowered my arm. "If I catch you making a single mistake, I will no longer show mercy."
Matt dropped himself on the floor and pretended to gasp for air.
I got distracted when someone tapped on my shoulder.
"Ren, we need-."
I turned around, it was Armitage. In his hurry and because of the familiar scenery, he hadn't noticed the height difference. I had never seen so much hate in his eyes as he thought I was Kylo, it felt odd and unnatural.
Hux quickly regained himself. "Oh it's you. And why, may I ask, are you wearing Ren's cloak?"
I remembered Matt was here too when he placed his hand on my shoulder with a weirdly attractive protectiveness. "She was cold and borrowed it. Commander Ren was kind enough to let her. Any problems with that, General?"
Armitage suppressed a snort. "No most definitely not, why would I? I merely wish to speak with Commander Ren, about the next mission. But I think I won't be finding him today."
I had nothing to say. I was still too much in confusion because of the look Armitage had in his eyes before knowing it was me. Such raw hatred and pure disgust... it made me shiver.
I didn't realise Armitage had left until Matt's voice made me rip up from my thoughts. "Are you alright? You look so pale."
I took the hood off. "Yes, I'm alright."
Matt cocked his head in unwavering concern.
"I just... I didn't know that Hux could hold so much contempt," I admitted, staring of into nothingness.
Matt tightened his arm around me and motioned me to continue walking. "Don't worry about it (Y/n). You are one of the few he doesn't feel hatred towards."
Kylo would say anything to make (Y/n) feel better. Even the truth.
I send him a grateful smile. "I'm sorry, I won't let my issues ruin our day off together."
Matt gently stroke a lost strand of hair out of my face. My heart melted at the focused pout in his face.
"These issues are as much mine as they're yours, don't think twice about asking my help," he said a little commanding, before kissing my forehead with a reassuring force.
"Absolutely, Commander Matt," I chuckled.
Matt tensed up a little, but I didn't notice it.
It doesn't sound weird, 'Commander Matt'. He does sometimes show how demanding he can be. And not to speak about his superiority comped. Funny...
I already had a picture in mind...
When we entered, I almost didn't notice the leather couch instead of the two seats. "A couch? Why would Kylo Ren have a couch?" I raised my eyebrow.
Matt sounded nonchalantly while trying to explain. "I might or might not have dropped in one of our conversations that we'd go stargazing, in his quarters."
I wanted to jokingly slap his arm, but Matt was faster.
He took my hand and pulled me down with him, towards the couch.
"You sneaky-."
Matt interrupted my accusation by catching my lips with his.
After our kiss, I nuzzled my head in the crook of his neck. He wrapped his arms around me to secure my place in his lap. As if any moment, someone would take me away.
It was sweet to see how he always seemed to be afraid to lose me if he'd let his guard down for just the second.
It meant that what we have, mattered. While watching the stars, I realised how tired I was. The cold had made me -mentally and physically- tired.
I tried to stay awake, but Matt wasn't really helping; his adorable hold, body warmth, the calm rise and fall of his chest...
I felt safe in his arms. I don't know why, he was just a clumsy radar technician after all... But he was my clumsy radar technician.
I looked at his eyes while he kept gazing at the stars. They weren't actually black, I now noticed. In fact, his eyes were a combination of deep brown and amber. Tiny flecks of glowing bronze danced along the pupil, like the final breaths of a dying star.
"Do you like the view?" Matt was speaking about the restless heavens.
But I could only look at the infinite Milky Way of his eyes. However, where the solar system outside was never asleep and always fretful, I found serenity and peacefulness in his privately owned spiral galaxy.
"Yes, it's beautiful," I answered, absent-minded.
Matt's chest rose and fell slower and slower.
I could no longer keep my eyelids open and the darkness bid me hello.———
I know the title and the picture don't exactly fit with this chapter, but I just had to use it.
