7th November, 1955

It was half 3 when the door opened, causing Paul, who was sat on the sofa, to jump at the unexpected noise.

"We're here!" John called from the hallway. Paul could hear his shoes being kicked off and landing on the wooden floor.

"Hi." Paul called back, trying to sit up straight.

He could hear muttering from the hallway, but thought nothing of it and just turned to face the door.

"Oh, so you made it downstairs then?" John smiled, pushing open the door and walking in, followed by 3 boys.

"Yeah..." He nodded, looking at the others. He tried to put on a smile.

"These are my friends: George, Ringo and Stuart." He pointed to each boy as he said their name.

"Hi!" George called out first.

"Hey." Ringo waved.

"Alright?" Stuart greeted, sending a nod in his direction.

"And friends, this is Paul. My newest friend, I guess you could say."

"Hi there." Paul waved back, nervously.

George stood next to Ringo and John, Stuart on the other side of Ringo, each smiling with their hands in their pockets.

"So uh, tell us somethin' about yourself, Paul." Stuart, who had moved to sit on the couch opposite, followed by the other two friends of John's, said.

"I'm from Manchester." He rushed out, figuring John had already told them that.

"What's it like up there?" George asked. "Do people really not know what rock music is?"

"Uh... Some do. But it never really stayed big, y'know?"

"Really?" Ringo asked, looking shocked.

"Aye."

"I'm glad I don't live in Manchester then." George spoke in relief.

"It's okay I guess." He shrugged. "So uh, what about you?"

"Oh." Ringo smiled. "Well, we're in a band."

"Yeah, I heard." He smiled, looking to John who was now sat next to him. "What do you all play?"

"Well, I play bass, Ringo plays drums and John and George play guitar. As well as another friend of ours, but he's not here." Stuart added. "Do you play any instruments?"

"I play guitar and bass... Piano and keyboard, too."

"Keyboard? Isn't that something on a typewriter?" George asked, looking confused. "How would you play that exactly?"

What?

"Well- Well, no... I mean I guess it's just like a piano but can play many different sounds..." Paul tried to explain, not wanting to go into too much detail.

"What do you mean by that?" The youngest asked.

Oh lord, was he digging himself into a hole at this point.

"So if you wanted a guitar sound, then you can play the notes, but it will come out soundin' like a guitar." Paul tried to explain, and it seemed he'd done a good job as George looked amazed.

"That sounds amazing!" George called out. But then Stuart, Ringo and John began to laugh at him. "What?!"

"He's only messin' with you, Geo. There's no instrument that can do that." John laughed.

"We're you really jokin'?"

No... No I'm not.

"Uh, yeah."
