Season 1: Chapter 2
IntroductionsKehlani's POV
I was slowly coming to consciousness as I heard the loud alarm ringing from my phone next to me. I groaned and slammed my hand on it causing it to shut off yet fall to the floor. It had been a long day yesterday and I wanted to sleep in but Keviin said he wanted to "introduce me" to the pack. Like, the WHOLE pack. I may be bold and strong but big crowds aren't my thing. Vi was the beta of the pack, he was moved up the beta from third in command about a few months ago, as he told me. I'm not one to care about those stuff but he told me that the pack is very close together and everybody knows everybody. Which meant that I had to get to know everyone in order to actually fit in. The only people I knew were Keviin, Jasper, and Keviin's wife, Nicole. I've not met Nicole personally but we have chatted over the phone when they had started their few months of marriage. I mean I was one to socialize with people who I didn't or barely knew but it became a common thing, I guess. It turns out that Nicole is a very sweet woman. She was 19 while Keviin was 21. Although, she was pretty young to get married but they were mates and well they wanted to be together until the day they died. But talking about mates... ew. I honestly don't know why people look forward to having a mate. You have to turn or divide your attention to them whenever they want it and it's uncontrollable.
"Yo," a deep voice said from my door, which was open.
I got up and went to the door since the man couldn't see me as the door blocked my view from him.
"What's up?" I asked combing down my hair with my fingers.
He had a very muscular body. It only took me a few seconds before noticing that his abdomen showed lightly through his teal shirt. He was way taller than I was and I felt as if I had absolutely no power to this man.
He held out his hand, "I'm Trevor, but you can call me Trev," His voice was deep and a bit raspy.
I assumed he'd just gotten up. I nodded and smiled, taking his hand in mine.
"Kehlani, Keviin's little sister, you can call me Lani or whatever feels comfortable for you," I took my hand away.
He nodded and waved his hand, gesturing me to walk with him. I did as he asked.
"Do you have a mate?" He simply asked.
I shook my head, sighing in the process.
"It's not really like... my thing?" I said, shrugging.
He stopped while we were about to reach the end of the hall. He stared at me with a confused expression, but it seemed he was clearly deep in thought. I waited until he'd came back to his senses which was a few seconds later.
"Why not?" He asked, walking again.
I shrugged again, "I just, I guess I can't push myself to believe that there's just someone out there who is made for you and you're just forced to love them without option, you know?" I looked up at him.
'God I feel so short,' I said in head.
We had continued to talk about mates and how when they meet that it's somewhat important that they mark you as soon as possible. Trevor even told me that some wolves had the audacity to mark women who didn't want to be their mate and they were forced into mating and lost their real soulmate. It surprised me, but I knew someone would be sick enough to do something like that. He even told me that he goes to a high school around the town. I stopped him when I asked which school and he said that he never really paid attention to the name but just the school. I nodded and continued walking until we were met in the kitchen with multiple eyes on us.
