I drop the last body to the floor, wiping my face as my phone rings. I groan, pulling it out, seeing Caroline's name flashing on the screen. "Hello?"

"Where the hell are you?" She snaps. "If I'm gonna help you keep in check, you kind of need to be around me. Alina, I'm in a crisis. Where are you?"

"About an hour out of Mystic Fall." I huff, "What's wrong." I sigh, stepping over the dead bodies.

"My boyfriend is a dumb-ass martyr." She snaps. "And why are you an hour away?"

"Because I'm avoiding my dumb-ass boy problems. And my sister." I state.

"She's at the lake house with Jeremy and Bonnie, so come home. I need you." She whines, "Wait, what boy are you trying to avoid?" I stay quiet and she gasps, "Is it Stefan? Oh, my god, why are you trying to avoid Stefan?" She asks quickly.

"No reason, I'm just not in a boy mood." I lie.

"Well, Klaus told Stefan about the Hunter's sword, he tried to call you, but you're ignoring his calls." She hums, and i can hear the smirk in her voice. I roll my eyes "The map in Jeremy's tattoo, the sword decodes it. It's literally the key to finding the cure."
I quirk a brow, mentally making a note of it.

"And Stefan told you all this, and who told him this, Klaus?" Caroline hums and i nod slowly. "Well, I'm on my way home, I'll call you later." Before she can say anything, i hang up, dialing Asher's number.

"Well, look who finally has time for her friends." He laughs.

"You still want that cure?"

"More than anything." He says quickly, "Why? Do you know where it is?"

"Not exactly." I state, "But i know how to find it. How fast can you and Max get here?" I ask.

"Already packing our bags, see you soon."

==================================

I stand in the Grill, waiting for Max and Asher to get here. I'm staring at one of Klaus' paintings, a snowflake. "What a sight for sour eyes." I look over to Klaus, giving him a small smile.

"Well isn't it Mr. Scrouge." I joke.

Klaus gives me a laugh, walking over to me. "Dickens was a dark man." He nods. "I believe you would have liked him."

I hum, shrugging as Klaus comes to stand next to me. "Nice snowflake."

"Is my work really that literal?" He huffs, making me smile.

"I'm being serious, Klaus." I say, looking back to the painting, "It's lonely but beautiful." I smile.

"Well, I'll take that as a compliment, Sweetheart." He nods. "Would you like some champagne?" I give him a look and he laughs, looking around, "You're already a high school cautionary tale."
