“What do you mean?” I asked.
“They left, as in they moved again” Kelly said.
“Oh” was all I could say.
“Are you okay?” Randy asked.
“Yeah it’s just sad, Addie and Maddie will never know their Mom” I said.
“It’s okay you have us and I know that’s not as good as a Mom and Dad but we’ll be here for you” Kelly said. I smiled and set Maddie and Addie down, I hugged Kelly and then I hugged Randy.
When we arrived at school, Josh and I walked hand-in-hand to my locker, when we stopped Josh looked me in the eye.
“Now be honest are you okay?” He asked. I took a deep breath.
“No” I said on the verge of tears. Josh wrapped his arms around me.
“I’m not going to tell you it’s going to be okay, because you probably don’t want to hear it, but I will tell you that you will always have me, my sisters, and my parents. If you have a nightmare and you need someone to hold you, just come to my room. I don’t care if it’s the middle of the night” he said, I smiled.
“Thank you Josh” I said unlocking my locker, I took out my books and shoved my bookbag back into my locker.
“What did I do to deserve this?” I asked Josh as we walked to his locker.
“You didn’t do anything, God knew you were strong enough for this, he knew you could get through it, that’s why this happened” he said.
“But I’m not strong enough” I said.
“Yes you are” Josh said.
“Josh I can’t go a day without cutting, I try to stop but I just can’t” I said.
“I’ll help you, come to me when you feel like cutting” he said, I nodded.
“Me and Summer were as close as two people could get, before Dad’s death and then we drifted apart” I explained.
“I know, when we were younger you and her would always come over” Josh said, I smiled at the memory.
“That’s when I was actually happy and then we moved” I sighed.
“Were you popular at your other schools?” Josh asked me.
“Yes, I was the popularist girl at my elementary school and middle school” I smiled.
“But I wasn’t happy, I wanted more than anything to move back here with my best friends” I said.
“Well now you’re back” Josh smiled.“I’m surprised you remember me” I laughed.
“How could I forget you?” he asked. I shrugged my shoulders laughing. Just then the five minute bell rang, I sighed and Josh grabbed my hand walking me to first block.
He pecked my lips before walking to his class, I walked in and sat in the back beside Paige.
I felt my phone vibrate, I pulled it out and saw a text from my old best friends that I had to leave behind in California. We were the ‘popular’ crew since we were seven. They were the first people I met when I moved to California.
Callie: Hey girl I miss you so much, it isn’t the same without you we all miss you terribly!
David: Hey Autie you know me and Callie date now. I really do love her, anyway I miss you being here, I always could count on you!
Trent: AUTUMN GUESS WHAT!? Me and Olivia date now! I miss you so much, I miss your sarcastic comments after somebody says something to you! Please visit SOON!
Olivia: Hey Autie with an A I miss you so much girl, it’s unreal. Now who can I count on to always make me feel better?
Caleb: I miss you so much Autie. Remember when we dated? Wow and we thought we liked each other like that. I’m glad we both moved past that. But I miss you so much BEST FRAND WHY YOU LEAVE LIKE THAT!?
Isabelle: Wow Autumn you have only been gone almost two weeks, but it feels like a century. You have like got to come visit and soon! I love you bby!!
Isaac: Hey well me and Isabelle date now! She is an amazing girl. But since you’ve left I have no one to talk to for relationship advice PLEASE COME BACK!
I smiled at their texts and decided to reply, we had a sub today, so we didn’t really have any work. Man now I miss my friends back in Cali.
To Callie: CAL congrats on your new boyfriend and I miss you so much! But I have reconnected with all my old friends and I’m the most popular girl at school again and I am at my old studio! But I still miss you and the ‘crew’
To: David: OHMG CONGRATS! And I knew you did, I always knew you two would end up together! I miss you more than words can describe!
To: Trent: OHMHG THAT’S AMAZING! I miss you always picking on me because of my shortness! Now nobody does :(
To: Olivia: Hey Olivia with an O and I miss you so much too! Don’t worry you can still count on me! Call me whenever you need someone to count on! Also a little birdy told me you and Trent date, you can also always count on him, trust me he’ll always be there for you!
To: Caleb: I’m so sorry best friend! But I’m glad we moved past that to! I didn’t want to leave, I had to.
To: Isabelle: Awh I love you too IZZY!! And I will come visit as soon as I can! Congrats on your new boyfriend!
To: Isaac: I MISS YOU!! and I can still help you with relationship advice, I’m only a phone call away!
I turned to face Paige. “When are we leaving for Comp?” I asked her.
“Actually tomorrow at lunch time” she smiled.
After school we went to dance and there was no Summer. Miss Abby walked in and she looked straight at me.
“Autumn where’s your mom and Summer?” she asked me.
“I don’t know” I said.
