Lian's POV:
I woke up to the sound of someone's light footsteps. 'It must be Aang' I thought. Why was he up in the middle of the night? Shouldn't he be sleeping? I quickly took my orange and yellow outfit and got dressed. Slowly opening my door, I heard shuffling from Aang's room. Using my air bending to lighten up my footsteps, I walked along the corridor. I didn't want to wake up the other air nomads or I would get in trouble for being out of my room in the middle of the night.

Well, you see, normally at the temples, it is forbidden to get out of your room at nights so you can get a good quality sleep. Until a few weeks ago Aang and I used to go to brother bonding field trips to the other nations. We would sneak out of the Southern Air Temple at night with Aang's sky bison Appa and visit our friend Bumi from the Earth Kingdom or Kuzon from Fire Nation. But when the monks told us that Aang was the Avatar, he began to train harder every day. So he got tired and needed sleep more than ever. Normally the monks shouldn't have revealed Aang being the Avatar until he was sixteen but they were four years early. And their excuse for that is 'hard times are coming' and they need the Avatar -Aang-. So not to disturb his beauty sleep, we had to put an end to the field trips.
But now, here I was opening Aang's door and finding him packing his bag. "Aang?" I said confused "Are you sneaking out?" Before I interrupted his packing, he was about to put a hair shaver to his bag. But when he heard my voice, he froze. He slowly turned around and I saw tears in his eyes. "Oh....hey Lian," he said in a small voice. "Shouldn't you be sleeping?" he said. "Well, I could ask you the same thing. Where are you going? Were you dumping me? Weren't you the one who said family sticks together?" I bombarded him. He answered looking a lot like a guilty lemur bat who was trying to steal some berries. "I'm running away," he said. With that, my blood ran cold. I was stuck to my place with surprise. "Why? Don't you see that there is a storm outside?" I asked "No screw that I'm coming with you" "No you're not coming with me." he said immediately. " I need to do this alone" Than he explained why he was going. He had eavesdropped to a conversation between the monks and Monk Gyatso (our guardian). They were talking about separating Gyatso and me from Aang by sending him to the Eastern Air Temple because we were distracting him from his Avatar training and a few more mumbo-jumbo. He finished by saying he couldn't take me away from my friends and my home. "Aang, my home is where my family is and my family is you" I replied wisely."And I can always make more friends." I added. Aang opened and closed his mouth like a blobbering blob monster a few times and finally "Come here" he said. Then he pulled me into a strong hug. Not knowing what to do, I awkwardly pat to his back with my little 9-year-old hands. A few moments later, we had packed all of our belongings into a bag along with a few blankets, two sleeping bags, and a small tent and sprinting towards the hill where Appa and his other sky bison friends slept.

Our journey was not what I imagined. The storm was unforgiving and strong winds were slapping us across the ocean like we were some kind of helpless bug. Aang was flying Appa and trying to keep him calm while I was bending a huge air ball around Appa in his saddle to keep us safe from the crazy winds. Although I had gotten my master tattoos at 8 years old, making me the youngest master, I still had a lot to learn because I was struggling to keep the airball from deforming. I was just about to yell at Aang for help when an enormous wave came crashing down and making us fall into the ocean. I was soaked to my bones and was trying to swim to Aang and trying not to give in to the piercing icy cold water. I tried to grab for reins but my muscles wouldn't move and my lungs were literally burning and screaming for oxygen. Then, all of a sudden, I saw a blinding light blue, almost white colored light and felt my brother's strong grasp on my shoulder before I finally let the darkness take over me.

Neither did I know that I would open my eyes a century later to see a life literally collapsed...
