"Looks like I've underestimated you. But I promise that won't happen again."
"Zuko?...."

Lian's POV

"Zuko?" When I called his name, he turned to look at me. The first thing that caught my eye was a huge red, angry scar that was covering his left eye and a big part of his face. His expression was a combination of anger, shock, and sadness when he saw me. We stared at each other for a while.
"Lian," he said in a cold voice.

His eyes were darting around my forehead and my hands where my airbending arrows were. I could tell that he was seeing them as an official sign of treachery against my people, my nation. But he was wrong.
At that moment, looking to Zuko, I promised myself that I will help my nation heal and be guided by a more sensible Fire Lord. I will help Aang to end the war before it spread out and caused more damage and pain around the world. I will help him bring balance to this world again.

While thinking these, my eyes were examining his scarred eye. What could've happened? Then, an answer popped up in my mind. Ozai. I didn't know how I know this, but I was a hundred percent sure that it was the only answer. He was the only answer. He had hurt my brother. Just like he hurt me.
My bitterness to my royal family was quickly washed over by worry for Zuko. True, as time passed I understood that he wasn't a really great brother at the time. But he was still my family.

Then a horrible feeling of shame, regret, and guilt settled in my gut. It was my fault. If I hadn't run away, I could've prevented this from happening. I could've protected Zuko. But no. I was selfish and scared. All I cared about was my wellbeing that I was completely blind to Zuko's feelings. Now we were enemies. He was going to try to capture Aang probably as long as he lived. He would try to complete my past job. But wouldn't let him.

I got snapped back to reality by Aang's confused voice. "Zuko? Like, the Fire Prince one?" he asked. I had told him about Zuko. He didn't know about the scar because I didn't know about it.

Finally ripping his eyes off of me, Zuko answered in a low dangerous tone. "Yes, exact-" then, unfortunately, his little introduction got cut off by Appa's loud growling. Before mom disappeared, I remembered times that his voice was a lot warmer and friendlier. He gasped in horror and surprise when he saw Appa "What is that thing?"

Katara and Sokka were in now flying Appa's saddle waving at us. Sokka was grinning madly like a hyped-up little kid.
Aang answered him by saying "Appa!" He was as happy as me to see our flying bison flying again.

But my smile turned into a scowl when I saw red hot flames coming towards Aang. Zuko's flames. He was shooting flame blasts after blasts. I got in front of Aang and spun my staff in my hands to make the fire go away. Aang seemed to finally notice them too because he mimicked my actions. Unfortunately for us, Zuko had gotten stronger. Aang and I dangerously backed up to the edge of the deck. If we took one more step back, our last destination would be the cold dark waters of the South.

Zuko seemed to hear what I was thinking because he started to aim his blasts at Aang's head. While spinning his staff like crazy, Aang lost his staff. So I got in front of him and started to bend the fire back to Zuko. I know that I vowed not to bend fire but this was an emergency situation. Then the guards came to Zuko's help and started to blast more fire at us. Not fair!
