After a day of recovery in the guild hall, Eric was back on his feet more or less. His wounds were mostly healed, and the more severe ones were securely bandaged.

He left the guild hall and walked to the Silver Stag, taking his time to enjoy the beautiful day.

He entered the tavern, and walked up to the bar.

"A room for five nights please." He said confidently. Setting the money on the table. The bartender smiled and counted it out.

"You're all set." She winked. "I saved your room from last time, so you already know where to go. Welcome back young man."

"Good to be back." He replied. Eric took his new favorite seat, the table in the back corner farthest from the door, and sat down.

Anne was busily rushing about taking and filling orders, her ponytail bouncing with every stride.

Eventually she made her way to Eric's table.

"So, you finally showed up." Anne crossed her arms.

"What do you mean finally?" Eric asked with mock indignation.

"Once my shift ends, you're taking me shopping. Don't be late." Anne declared.

"But I-" Eric started To protest. Anne put a finger to his lips, shushing him. The look in her eyes said "or else.". She smiled pleasantly. "I'll see you in an hour!" She then whirled away, filling and taking orders left and right.

"What have I gotten myself into?" Eric groaned.

He went up to his room and unloaded his extra gear. Then he hid his extra copper under the mattress, and withdrew enough to buy a new set of clothes. His current pair was worn ragged from his encounter in the sewers.

He discreetly left the tavern, and went to a back alley clothing shop. He got an excellent deal on a nice pair of tan pants and a nice plain red shirt. He completed the outfit with a durable and warm black jacket.

He paid and thanked the store owner before returning to the tavern. Anne was nowhere in sight. He approached the bartender casually and asked. "Have you seen Anne recently?"

The bartender winked and pointed upstairs. "She's still trying to pick out something to wear. She said to meet her by the fountain at the base of the clock tower."

Eric sighed. "That sounds exactly like something she would do."

The bartender grinned. "So, when's the wedding?"

Eric blushed. "It's not like she likes me or anything."

The bartender laughed. "Let me guess, she's forcing you to go shopping with her?" Eric nodded. "Well let me give you a few bits of advice. First, when a girl asks you to go shopping you go shopping and you do everything you. Can to make her happy.

Second, when a girl like Anne asks you to go shopping you make Damn sure that she gets whatever she wants." Eric nodded. "And finally, when you get the chance, buy her some jewelry."

"Got it. Do whatever she asks, buy whatever she asks, and get her jewelry if I get the chance." Eric smiled. "Thank you for the advice."

Eric walked around until he found the fountain. It was large and circular with a statue of a large horse the spat a stream of water from it's mouth.

The fountain was surrounded by small benches and decoratively shaped bushes. In other words a beautiful city square garden.

Eric sat on a bench and waited. He glanced around, everywhere he looked all he saw were couples. Wait, Is this actually a date? He wondered.
