There was a bright flash and Eric found himself standing in the middle of a clearing somewhere deep in a forest.
"What the- N, any idea where we are?"
"The test lady used a mass teleport spell. We're currently in the Mage academy forest. Oh, and as you can see, the light above your head is black."
Eric sighed and shook his head to clear his mind.
"Can you tell me if someone is sneaking up on me?" He asked.
"You got it, boss," N replied.
Eric surveyed the terrain. The trees around the clearing were densely packed. The clearing itself was around 200 feet in diameter. Random rock formations jutted up from the ground.
Eric climbed to the top of the tallest one and looked around.
He could see that there were numerous paths amd trails through the dense forest, and every now and then a red-cloaked figure with a red or blue light over their head would dart past on one of the trails.
Eric looked up at his light orb. It was pitch black, and above it, the number zero was displayed.
He theorized that the number must be the number of players he had eliminated.
There was rustling in the foliage around him.
"Enemy in sight. Four mages from the red team by the looks of it." N warned.
Eric launched himself into the air as a volley of weak fireballs hit the top of the rock pile where he had been standing moments before.
"Oh come on," Eric called. "You'll have to do way better than that!"
He levitated, then spun in a circle, releasing bursts of compressed air all around him.
The ground around the clearing erupted violently sending showers of dust and debris into the air.
Eric held it there, hundreds of rocks and pebbles hovering a few feet off the ground, then flung them outwards like a massive shotgun.
The noise was deafening. Trees fell, rocks were pulverized, and four young mages screamed.
Eric touched down in the center of the chaos and smirked as the number over his head went from zero to four.
"So you want a bad guy huh? Well, there's no point complaining about it, so... who's next?"
A blue team mage with their hood up stepped out of the bushes.
"Impressively done." They called. "But it's time you commoners learned your place."
The hooded figure ripped their hood back revealing...
Well, nothing exciting. He was just a guy, albeit a relatively handsome one. He had a mane of blonde hair that flowed back behind his head, and he was holding a staff.
"Ooh, an item. Very scary." Eric taunted.
The figure growled. "Do you know who I am you lowly swine?!"
Eric scratched his head. "Sorry, I don't remember seeing you before."
"My name is Frederick Verosay, third in line to the dukedom of Verosay, remember that you ignorant fool as I destroy you!"
Eric yawned. "Enough monologuing. I'm done with you."
He made a sweeping motion with his hand sending an invisible arc of wind towards the stuck up nobleman.
Frederick smirked and raised his staff. A blue orb encased him, nullifying Eric's attack.
Frederick cackled maniacally. "Do you see now? Your magic is useless against me! Are you ready to surrender now?"
