When Eric woke up the first thing he said was.

"What the hell is in my face?" Except it was a bit muffled so it came out more like.

"Wha mmph hmmph is Im moh mmph"

Which made absolutely no sense, and was in itself difficult to understand.

"Good morning!" Anne said brightly, sitting up again.

Judging by the angle, Eric had a pretty good idea of what had been in his face. Honestly, he was surprised he hadn't suffocated in his sleep.

Eric's face was bright red, though whether from embarrassment or lack of oxygen he wasn't sure. It was probably a combination of the two.

Anne shoved a paper in his face. Eric squinted. It was way too early for paperwork.

"What am I looking at?" He asked blearily.

Anne pouted. "You mean you didn't know?" Anne asked.

"Try me," Eric grumbled. He really had to remember to lock his door at night.

"This," Anne brandished the paper. "Is a letter of acceptance to both the Mage Academy and the Royal Knights Academy.

You are to attend both of them as a candidate to join a task force to help keep players under control."

Eric was listening now. "Wait... both?!"

Anne leaned forwards, and placed chin on her palm, her elbow digging into Eric's chest.

"I'm as confused as you are. Abby and Reagan are also candidates for the team, but they're only to train as Mages."

"Any Idea who the commander is? Or are they still deciding."

Anne smiled. "The commander is going to be the former head of the Royal Knights, and the strongest warrior in the kingdom."

Eric's eyes widened, "wait, really? Who is it?"

Anne's smile got slightly smaller. "I also hear that she's the fairest maiden to set foot in all of Somnium and that she can win a man's heart just by smiling at him. You'd better watch yourself."

Eric gulped nervously. "Um... so who
Is it?" He asked.

Anne slapped him. It stung. "It's me you idiot!" She snapped. "Honestly, how dense are you?"

Eric rubbed his cheek. "Ow, that hu- wait... You're my new commander?!"

Anne smiled "that's right, so you'd better be nice to me or I'll give you latrine duty" she joked.

Eric wanted to go back to sleep. This was too much information too early in the morning.

Anne finally got off of him.

"You'd better hurry or breakfast will be over. School won't start for another few weeks, but when it does we'll have to find new people to run the cafe."

Eric sat up and slowly forced himself to fully wake up. Anne left and Eric closed the door, this time making sure to lock it.

He changed into his daily clothes and went downstairs. It was still the weekend, so the cafe didn't open until the next day. Eric and the girls enjoyed a leisurely breakfast in the empty cafe before heading their separate ways.

Anne had tasked Eric with finding new employees to replace them while they were gone. The trouble was, he had no idea how to go about it.

Lucius had thought that playing a dream game would be fun. he didn't care too much about the combat aspect, he just wanted to see what it was like.
