The cart rolled through the capital, passing the bustle of the gates, and navigating the busy main streets.
The cart then turned through a series of side roads. Eric co sided asking the driver where they were headed but didn't want to bother him.
They continued through the market district and finally stopped in front of the less reputable end of the warehouse district.
They were stopped in front of an old warehouse, it looked like it had been abandoned for the last few years.
It was three stories, and most of the windows were intact but it would definitely need some work.
Eric and his unit hopped out of the cart.
"Well, looks like this is home sweet home," Eric said cheerfully.
"This is just temporary right?" Alice asked meekly.
"Doesn't look like it," Brian muttered.
"Be grateful you aren't paying for it," Lin replied.
Alex opened the door and did a mock bow. "Ladies first" he grinned.
Alice complied, doing an exaggerated curtsey on her way in.
Eric and the others followed, and Alex went in behind them.
The first floor of the warehouse was covered in a thick layer of dust, sunlight streamed in through the windows, illuminating the massive room.
There were old counters and a few rusted appliances in one corner. A dining table with rickety old chairs was set in the center of the room.
There were a few patched up armchairs and a couch over in another corner.
"Everyone take a step back," Eric warned.
He made a hand gesture, and then suddenly the room erupted with violent winds howling like demons. When they died down the dust always gone, and the room practically sparkled.
Eric caught an envelope as it drifted down. He opened it and withdrew a handful of copper coins.
"Looks like this is our allowance," Eric said.
"What generous parents we have." Alex joked. Lin rolled her eyes.
"Shall we check out the other rooms?" Eric suggested.
The second floor had a dozen or so storage rooms, which he supposed were supposed to be living quarters.
Eric removed dust from the rooms, and Alice used her water magic to clean them.
The third floor had four larger storage rooms, one of which had some old weaponry and storage racks.
There was also decent roof access, which afforded them a fairly good view of the city.
It wasn't as nice as the Sunrise Cafe, but it would do. They met on the first floor, gathering around the old dining table.
"Your luggage should be arriving in a day or so," Eric announced. "Until then, we've been given these funds to carry us over until then."
"We should go shopping," Alice suggested.
"I agree, we need groceries," Brian added.
"Works for me." Alex shrugged. "But can any of us cook?"
Eric wished Reagan had been with them. "I can." He replied. "Although my baking is probably better."
Lin raised her hand tentatively. "I-I can cook too." She admitted. Alex opened his mouth to crack a joke, then thought better of it and shut it again.
