Gennie
The chauffeur in a black suit held open the door for us. Wesley went down first, helping me out. My eyes welcomed the well-decorated building with the alluring Christmas trees and lights on the entrance.
The weather was freezing, I was smart enough to go with a trench coat. When we got inside, the vast hall was warm, people were chattering, an orchestra in red suits was playing the rendition of Celine Dion's Power Of Love.
I shrugged out of my black trench coat, exposing the shimmering silver off-shouldered dress beneath. An attendant had brought the magnificent dress up to my room with a note from Wesley. I
Was surprised Wesley could be so thoughtful, and a dress worth so much? It was just too unbelievable.I looked at him in the bright light, his short hair was perfectly styled, his creamy jacket with the lights added more colors to his eyes. He leads me forward with his hand on my waist, I didn't mind.
The late thirties looking man walked up to us in a black jacket and striped shirt, his wife I guessed, by his side, wearing a red dress that'd complimented her husband's red pocket filler. The smiles on their faces were contagious. He took Wesley's hand and shook it briskly.
"Glad you made it man!" His voice was deep.
"I wouldn't miss it for anything!" Wesley laughed.
I noticed his wife's smiling face creased up in a frown when she noticed me. I was a bit uncomfortable under her uneven stare. Maybe Wesley had noticed as well, he quickly introduced me, saving me from her inquiry eyes.
"Damian this is Gennie, a friend of mine," he turned to my smiling face. "Gennie, Damian is an old friend and this is his wife Tracy."
"Really nice to have you here Gennie!" Damian grinned. His wife continued staring at me like I was dropped out of a magazine. There was something in her stare, I didn't know what it was, but I was certain there was something.
"Really nice to meet you both!" I smiled widely and warmly.
"Let us know if you two need anything, in case you do!" Damien offered.
"Definitely, but we doubt!" I smiled up at Wesley. He nodded.
"We'll move on to the other guests now! Enjoy your evening!" His wife spoke looking from Wesley to me and vice versa.
We moved on as they left. I saw her oddly whispering something to her husband. I was a little unsettled. There were lots of people at the party. I occasionally caught people staring at us, at me in particular, something odd in their stares. It was obvious I was the odd one out because of my complexion, but that didn't bother me a bit. Wesley met and greeted other friends who either slapped him in the back or shook his hand, either had small talks or the long conversations. They seemed to just stare at me. I was beginning to feel overly uncomfortable.
A waiter in white suit and gloves passed by with a tray of champagne. Wesley took two glasses, handing me one as we took our seats. I smiled into his handsome face as I took a sip. Wow!
The night went on smoothly as time passed by, it was perfect with Wesley by my side. We talked about the drinks, other guests, the Christmas decorations, and the songs played by the orchestra.
"You wanna dance?" He stretched out his hand towards me, his eyes twinkle on its edges. This was the moment I had wished for the first time I saw him that night at the party, to be held in his arms. My eyes darted to the couples swaying on the dance floor. I wasn't good at dancing so I wasn't ready to sign up for another humiliation.
"No! I can't dance, I've never danced that way in my entire life!"
He chuckled, leaning in, whispering into my ears. His breath caressed my ears, I felt his warm velvety lips on my earlobe, making my silver earring to sway. DANG! The effect he had on me!
