Wesley

It was beginning to drizzle the time we were on the highway.

"Finally!" She smiled at the droplets on her windshield.

"Finally what?" I asked confused.

"It's going to pour! There has been no rain since this year began!" She looked excitedly at the drops on her windshield.

"I never knew ordinary rain could excite you so much!" I said blandly, seeing her happy face.

"First rains aren't just ordinary, it's February already and there was no pour, long-awaited rain is what makes us excited!"

"So you're not the only excited one?" I was amused.

I watched as a fat droplet fell on the windshield, it instantly faded underneath the windshield wipers. It was getting heavy.

"Of course! Most people prayed for it! Planting is officially opened!" She danced behind her wheels to the beat of the music. My gaze fixed on her, she was happy, she was young and beautiful, she was everything I wished for in a woman. I stared silently at her as she danced and sang off keyed to the song on the radio.

The rain pour increased more and more as we drove into the hotel parking lot. We took the emergency stairs in the lot to the room.

Gennie yawned and settled into a chair. "I'll just wait until it subsides, first rain could be disastrous!"

"It's already late. I won't bite if you stay you know!" I said, taking off my shoes.

Her eyes instantly darted to the clock. "10:52 pm, I can't believe we stayed out that late!"

She yawned again. She must be really tired, being that we'd spent the entire day out, her condition needed enough rest and she hadn't rested throughout the day.

"Wesley about earlier!" She laughed nervously.

"Earlier?" I asked blankly.

"Yeah, earlier at the cinema, about Harold, the guy we met.."

I remembered the guy, I wasn't bothered by him at all.

"What about him?"

"Aren't you curious about anything?" She asked me.

Was I? Honestly, I wasn't, I believed her when she said they were done and everyhing she'd told me about her broken reletionship in NYC.

"How long has it been since you two broke up?" I asked, I think I was curious there.

"October last year, since then nothing had happened between us, not even a kiss, we work in the same office and I keep my distance as possible, I wouldn't date him again even if as a role in a drama..."

Why was she telling me this? Was she afraid I was going to doubt her? I knew the kind of women that imposed pregnancies, Gennie wasn't anything like them. She wasn't ambitious neither was she demanding. She didn't discuss my finances up until now and she was clearly uninterested in it.

"Gennie that doesn't bother me, really!" My voice was firm.

"Is that why you didn't ask?" She blinked.

"Of course, there was no point in asking, I saw the truth in your eyes!"

She went quiet. Then she faltered, "thanks, I was worried you didn't ask!"

"I already asked your eyes and they told me all I needed to know!" I smirked walking towards the closet.

"My eyes? Seriously?" She gasped, her hands cupped her chin.
