Mom, Aunt Julie, and Ofon had dropped me off at the airport that morning. I was going to miss them. Ofon hugged me tight and whispered.
"You'll get me a phone when you come next?"
"You're not up to the age of having your own phone!" I reminded him.
After the nine hundred and ninety-nine quick reminders from Mom on how to take care of yourself as a pregnant woman, mom waved me off. I ruffled Ofon's curly hair and walked away, feeling like I was leaving behind a great part of me.
Later that day after I arrived at my apartment, Emily came by. We talked and I gave her the few things I bought her.
"So what's your plan for tomorrow?" She'd asked looking at me.
"Tomorrow?" I asked searching her face.
"Valentine's day dummy!" She told me.
"It's tomorrow? Oh wow!" I said sarcastically. No wonder the adverts on TV and red colors everywhere.
"Daniel's made reservations for us at Sheraton Hotels, imagine what a date at Sheraton would be like!" She hummed.
Emily was very happy, she deserved it. Not after so many heartbreaks and disappointments. She was lucky to grab the kind of man she'd always wished for.
"Oh wow!" I said again, sounding like a hater but I wasn't, I was totally happy for her.
"I would've taken you along but Daniel and I don't need a third wheel, not on a valentine's night!" She laughed, obviously teasing.
"You're crazy! I don't need flowers, neither do I need those candle lighted dinner, I'm just going to celebrate Valentine with my baby! My first val as a pregnant woman!" I smiled down at my belly.
"Sounds boring!"
"I don't care ugly!" I said moving from her.
"You're going to work tomorrow right?" Emily asked strangely.
"Of course, tomorrow is Tuesday, I can't take two days off in a row!"
"Okay madam, prepare for tomorrow!"
"What do you mean?"
"Tomorrow is Valentine, you might find love!"
"I'm not searching for love!" I scoffed.
"Ooh! Someone's found love already with Wesley!" She giggled.
My cheeks heated up, I wasn't in love with Wesley, I'd be mad if I thought we'd be together, it's the child that was keeping him not me.
"Wesley has nothing to do with this, I've found love in my child!"
"Keep on lying, with the way you look now I'm certain you're in love with that man, too bad he's far off, but not so bad, he cares at least!"
"How do you know he cares?" Something was fishy! Something she wasn't telling me.
Emily looked nervous, that was strange, something was strange, I saw it in her eyes she was hiding something.
"Spill!" I snapped.
"Spill what?" She immediately left, "I'll just use the bathroom!"

Had Valentine's day always been like this? I think this year's Val was insane, maybe I didn't always notice it, since I was always focused on either work or the thoughts of the evening when I'll be seeing Harold.
