Gennie
Since the plane landed, my mind wasn't at ease, I felt so nervous. Coming to America again was something I didn't plan for, not this year or anytime soon.
The weather was so much different from when I first came. It was better, everywhere looked so vibrant. I took off my sunglasses and jacket exposing my dress.
Wesley literally swept me off my feet the minutes I met him. He was in a white polo, he took my box, leading me to his parked car. He yanked the little red traveling box into the backseat of the red convertible, holding open the front door for me.
"Welcome to Texas the Lone Star State!" Wesley slid me his enchanting smile.
"It looks so different from New York, the weather's better! It's quite beautiful so far!"
"Wait until you see the see the sights you know you have all reasons to gloat!" He said huskily.
As we drove, my mouth just couldn't remain closed. I was back in my talkative mode, I talk whenever I was comfortable. With Wesley around, comfort wasn't far-fetched.
Wesley taking me to his family house was unnerving, I began to wonder what his family would think of me. It was his parent's fifty-fifth marriage anniversary, that was the occasion Wesley wanted me to meet his family.
I was three months into the pregnancy and I was so glad to see Wesley again. Wesley had travel for their military work and was back, I was glad Wesley was perfectly fine.
The drive to his home was long but wasn't boring, the wind blew on my face, Wesley had given me sunglasses to wear, I took pictures of my face and Wesley's, it was so cute I had to post in on my Instagram, Wesley didn't mind. I took a video of the landmarks for Ofon's benefit.
"Do you think your parents would like me?" I finally voice the thoughts that we're making my palms sweat.
"I wouldn't bring you if they weren't looking forward to meeting you!"
"I'm still nervous!"
"Don't be, we're just like any normal family!"
"And that scares me the most!"
He chuckled before shifting his gaze back to the road.
Wesley held opened the door for me, I got down. Their house was a large duplex with white painting on the outside, a penthouse, and their front lawn well-tended.
The front door went open, I turned just in time to see a full-grown dog run to towards us. I had great phobias for a dog, the large animal frightened me.
"Wesley bent down stroking the brown animal as he waggled his tail, eyeing me.
"Gennie this is Diamond, the family dog!" He grinned.
"Diamond? What a name for a dog! So weird!" I giggled.
"Absolutely weird, Nathan, my nephew picked the name! You'll meet him inside!"
Wesley helped me with my traveling bag and we both went inside. I was nervous but kept it to myself as we walked through the double doors.
"Uncle Wesley!" A voice shrieked. "Dad, uncle Wesley's here!" A little boy about Ofon's age announced, running to us.
Wesley ruffled his short already messy hair when he gave him a hug. When the little boy looked up at me, his smiles faded, his forehead creased up in a frown...or confusion.
"Gennie this is Nathan, Arnold's first son!"
"Oh hi!" I smiled warmly.
"Wait, you're not Aunt Helena!"
