Gennie
It felt almost impossible to train my wandering mind to focus on one of those Harlequins novels I brought along with me, I mean whoever took books on vacation? Well, it was me.
My gaze was fixed on the book but the stubborn mind of mine seemed to have a mind of its own. Those hazel eyes kept dancing back to my mind. I rolled my eyes and flipped over to the next page. Still, my mind couldn't concentrate. Maybe it was my posture on the couch, I stirred and turned, changing my position, yet...Futile.
I sighed.
I sighed again...
Finally, I gave up trying, throwing the romance novel to the rug, it fell and bounced before it laid motionless. I muffled a yawn, glancing at the time on the new phone I got myself earlier that day. It was almost 5 pm. 5:30 pm was our little date. I mean whatever it was going to be, it wasn't going to be the romantic kinda date most people go to, it was going to be just normal hangouts. Nothing more, nothing less.
Me being the time conscious bitch I was, waited on the couch, long ready, awaiting his arrival.
I laid down with my back flat on the couch and my hands on my belly. Since that evening wasn't going to be anything serious but just a casual walk and getting to see some sights, I wore a sweater and some sweat leggings. I yawned again, already tired of waiting. I had never been on casual dates before, which made me a bit nervous. All the dates I had been to were the kinda dates you get all dressed up, makeups and hairdos. But whatever we were going on that evening was a bit different. Well, maybe it wasn't even a date... If there was another word for hangouts then it would probably be that evening.
I didn't realize I had dozed off until there was a rap on the door.
My eyes instantly flickered open. I knew exactly who it was since it was now 5:32 pm. Hmmm! He was two minutes late. What was the big deal? I hurried to the large dressing mirror by the left corner, giving myself one final look in it. It was perfect. I was perfect, nothing serious just mascara and eyeliner with some powder. I hurried to the door, taking my time.
He was there, waiting. He stared at me, those hazel eyes I now loved so much was boring into my soul. My pulse quickened. I somewhat loved the effects his eyes had on me. They made me feel wanted, just like every woman had the right to be.
"Oh hi!" I smiled, trying not to look so ecstatic to see him. If only he knew how ecstatic I was to have him here. If only he knew how much I was dying to get my hands in his dark short hair in a light caress, to pull him close and savor his taste and his musky scent and to... Holy shit! Get a grip on yourself!
"Hi!" Wesley's square jaw dropped in a pleasant smile, making his wonderful hazel eyes shine in their edges, twinkly. How handsome this guy was. How charming he looked in his off-white turtle neck shirt and a blazer. Thank goodness I didn't wear that fancy dress or those kiss-the-skies heels! It would've been painfully odd! Yeah, odd!
"Ready?" He raised a brow, wetting his lower lips with his tongue. My gaze settled on his wet lips for sometimes before I looked away, forcing a laugh.
"Oh yeah! One sec, lemme get my purse." I went back inside to get my scarf and purse. I returned shortly after.
The weather was miraculously great that evening, maybe mother nature had approved our little...whatever it was. A harmless hangout? Maybe. Just maybe!
He looked down at me and smiled, damn he was way too tall, no wonder he was in the military. What was he? 6'9ft? I hoped not!
"There's a Chinese restaurant just by that corner, wanna walk?"
