Riot

I was standing on my tip toes to see what was going on. It didn't help much. I wasn't short but there were just too many people.
The sky slowly turned dark and the first stars sparkeled in the sky.
I heard a girl's scream and loud voices yelling. Was somebody hurt?
Was it serious?
"Sorry... Sorry, Ma'am. Excuse me. I need to get to her, please" I said as polite as possible.
My mum always told me: the people might judge you for your skin colour. They shouldn't have the opportunity to judge you for your behavior. Be always nice and treat people as you would like to be treated.
When she told me this the first time I started crying but now I'm actually thankful to got raised like that.
Much better than those parents who don't know how to teach their kids manners.

Finally I got to the front line.
A girl hugged a boy who sat on the street and was maybe thirteen or younger. She whispered something in his ear and he just nodded and stopped shaking so much. A police officer stood a few steps next to them and seemed a little bit helpless and uncomfortable. He held a teaser in his hand and seemed to be ready to attack the kids anytime.
I looked around and then went to the girl.
I started smiling at her immediately even though she couldn't see my face through the helmet. But I didn't care much.
"Hey... Is everything okay? Do you guys need help or something?"
The girl looked up and her eyes widened.
"It's okay. It's okay. I'm not going to hurt you. I promise. I'm on your side" I quickly explained. I must have scared her as hell. A strange dude with an full black armour might not be the most soothing thing to act up as the good guy.
The girl smiled shily and gave the boy a quick kiss on the forehead.
"It's alright. He's just scared. We're going home now."
I nodded. It was the best idea. The officers haven't tear gased us yet and I really wanted it to stay like this. But it was most likely to escalate as all the other protest. And that's not what this was about. Often it is not even our fault it's getting brutal like the media likes to transfer. Okay okay... Calm down. Not the best place to get angry.

The girl grabbed the boys arm and stood up. I guess the boy was her younger brother but I didn't know exactly.
She didn't tell me what happend but I didn't mind. They weren't hurt and that was the most important thing.
I made sure they got through the crowd safe.
"Thank you" she whispered even though I didn't do anything and smiled softly.
"You're welcome. Stay save guys" I waved them goodbye as they walked away.
It was getting late but the crowd was still extremely huge so there was no way for me to go home. I wasn't tired so it was fine.

"Riot?"
The name. I didn't realize that someone said my name because you know...Riot is not my actual name. The media gave it to me and I was still not used to get called like that.
"Hey... Uhm excuse me...Are you Riot?" The voice got louder and then someone tapped my shoulder.
I've got lost in my thoughts and flinched violently.
"Jesus Christ" I pressed one hand on my chest as I turned around.
Holy macaroni. Now this dude was tall. Like really freaking tall.
"I'm sorry" He apologized with a little accent (I really don't know what accent it could be) "I didn't mean to scare you" His voice was deep and very calming.
"It's okay"
I tried to breathe normally and not like a fifty years old asthmatic.
"I'm gonna die anyway, so why not have a heart attack at twenty five?" The guy tilted his head and started laughing.

"You got a point. But you are so close to thirty." (I felt incredibly old this moment... Also I'm closer to twenty than thirty)
He showed me the small distance with his thump and index finger.
"It'd be so sad if you wouldn't make it" I smiled.
"Maaaaaybe" I admitted slowly while searching for new arguments. I didn't find any.
"Also" He went on "I don't want to be charged with first degree murder"
"Oh..." I acted hurted.
"So this isn't about me... Just about you. That hurts my soul"
We started laughing again. People gave us weird looks but we didn't care much.
Then he looked me up and down. "So... Are you Riot or did I scared the wrong dude to hell?" I laughed and then nodded.
"Yeah that's me. You scared the right person. What did I do to deserve this?"
The guy shrugged.
"Don't be that jumpy next time"
"Don't give me a reason to be jumpy next time" I countered.
For a few seconds I thought he would be pissed (what would be very unfavorable for me because he was like three miles taller than me... I'm not even joking) but then he started laughing.
"Sounds like a deal to me"
"Great"
I bet he was smiling. I definitely was.
Suddenly I noticed a patch on his chest.
The Guy Fawkes Mask, the symbol for anonymous. (And V for Vendetta but that's another story... Nevermind back to the important things)

My dumbass finally noticed that our uniforms looked very much the same. He must be from anonymous too.
I didn't want to ask him. Not too many words about anonymous in public.
He noticed my look and then nodded quickly. I didn't know if he was answering my silent question if he was sent by anonymous as well or if he just felt like nodding.
"I'm Tank... Pleasure to meet you"
He held out his hand and I took it.
"Pleasure is full mine"

And that's how I met Tank and we lived happily ever after. Ha, just kidding. This is just the beginning. Shit was about to escalate reeeeaaal quick.
