ACE'S POV

I awoke gently, my head surprisingly clear and free of my usual headache as I lifted it from the pillow. The morning sun was ripping a bright slit through the curtains and I squinted against it, unable to properly open my eyes yet as I scrunched myself up into the sheets before stretching widely across the mattress.

There was a moment of pure bliss in which I spent draped over the pleasingly cool sheets, before all the events of the early morning hurtled into with a surprisingly blunt force. Immediately I became fully conscious and sat up straight, flexing my hand as I remembered that I was housing a very familiar criminal, and that there was a high chance the man who usually slept beside me was in great peril, or dead.

I slunk out from between the sheets and dropped onto the floor, stretching my back. I tugged on a pair of leather combat leggings and switched my nightie for a similar looking satin cowl neck camisole in a dark blue. My hair went up into a ponytail and I tugged on my boots, preparing myself to face whatever had gone down whilst I was asleep.

As I made my way downstairs I heard voices coming from the kitchen... no, A voice coming from the kitchen. Specifically Sebastian's brash tone echoing off the walls as it reached my ears. Well that was good I guess. Loki has refrained from murdering him so far as I so definitely believed he wouldn't just by the look in his eyes when Seb showed up.

I lingered by the entryway, observing the scene with a smirk plastered to my face. Loki was sneering distastefully at Sebastian behind his back as he waffled on about seemingly the most mundane topic.

"I guess I'm more susceptible to a poppy seed roll myself but the crusty plain rolls are a classic." He raved as he set down a basket full of rolls from the local bakery on the table. I suppressed an exhausted groan and rolled my eyes, venturing into the room as Loki's eyes turned to me.

He studied me as carefully and meticulously as he had last night, unapologetically raking his hungered gaze over the entirety of my body in a glazed emerald approval. I returned his stare with an impassive glare of my own and poured myself a mug of coffee from the cafetière.

"Oh you're up." Seb commented, glancing over his shoulder as he poured a jug of orange juice. He did this every single morning, prepared a fairly wholesome breakfast in the hopes I'd wake up before 12 in the afternoon but it never really transpired. Today was his lucky day I guess.

"Not quite." I muttered under my breath, feeling less than comfortable with the unnatural atmosphere that Had been created in the room. The crippling tension that poured between Loki and I mixed sourly with the bright mood that radiated from Sebastian,  making for an interesting ambience.

I watched the adept fingers of Loki's hand reach out toward the bread and take one of the rolls from the pile, a move that had been carefully calculated from the selection, inside his mind. I followed suit, smearing mine with butter before tearing off a chunk to eat as I waited patiently for Loki to finally avert his eyes.

It was like a radioactive ray that spanned out over me as he stared making me hyper aware of his persistent gaze and causing a bubbling agitation to pool within me. Eventually I got sick of it and stood up, washing my hands as we both ignored whatever the hell Sebastian was on about now.

"What is this?" I heard Loki query quietly, his silken voice low but still prominent enough to cut through the constant witter coming from next to me. I flitted my eyes to the roll in his hand and leant against the counter, trying to control my seething mind.

"It's a sesame seed roll."

"I like it... a lot."

I let out a groaning sigh as I rolled my eyes and hopped over the island to leave.
