"So Sorter came back?" I muttered quietly as I wiped an antiseptic cloth over the scrapes against his sharp cheekbone. To his favour he wasn't complaining or flinching despite the fact it probably stung pretty badly. Instead he stared down at me, searching for something in my eyes as I cleaned the cuts on his face.
"No."
My eyebrow quirked and I raised my gaze to meet his eyes as they glinted devilishly, still fixated on me and my movements. I sighed and shuffled my feet a little, still standing between his legs as he leant against the counter in the bathroom.
"You gonna elaborate on that or what?" I sighed tiredly, trying not to show just how relieved I'd been at his return, for some reason I knew not. He winced a little as I applied more pressure to a nastier looking wound and I grimaced apologetically. His sigh was weary and saturated with irritation as he finally looked away from me, his eyes flashing around the room carefully as he chose his forced words.
"There was a fight that broke out, a band of resistance who were unhappy with the way I was running things. They would be the only ones though, every other inhabitant is truly prospering under the new rule of Asgard."
The corner of my lip quirked up a little and a clenched my jaw to keep the scoff that threatened to burst out of my mouth at bay. His eyebrow kicked up as he observed me and I bit my lip, feeling like he'd definitely seen how I'd tried to hold back my amusement.
"I don't fucking blame them, I'd probably be rioting against you as well." I muttered dryly, turning to dump the the wipe in the bin whilst grimacing at the tinged blood all over it. When I turned back to face him I felt the hand wrap tightly around my throat way before I'd spied the dangerous look in his eyes.
He tensed his fingers either side of my neck and I swallowed forcibly, trying to keep the gasp from tumbling from my lips as I felt a warmth pool in my lower belly at the grip he'd gained around my neck.
"That mouth of yours is going to get you into trouble one day, Ora." He uttered smoothly, his jaw set hard with restraint as he rolled his gaze over my body in a way that stripped me exposed under his chilled scrutiny. A shiver rocked down my spine as he hesitantly released my neck and I sighed agitatedly under my breath to hide the distinct arousal I'd felt beginning to curl up in my stomach.
I moved away to wash my hands, seeing Loki stretch and lean up off the counter in my peripheral vision. I didn't miss the slight wince that twisted his sharp features as he rolled his shoulders and I shut off the tap, turning to see his discomfort as he stretched the sore muscles in his back.
"You look like you're in need of a bath." I announced, walking to turn the faucets on over the side of the bath. I turned each one until I'd felt a good temperature against my fingers and I felt another ripple of gooseflesh travel over my spine. Though I believed that may have been because of the feeling of his intense gaze on me as I messed with the water temperature and plugged the tub.
"Bubble bath?" I queried, standing up to turn and face him with a large bottle of Radox in my hand. His eyebrow twitched a little as he looked at the bottle and his brows knitted together, possibly wondering what the hell it was.
"Just a...bath would be adequate." He spoke quietly, eyeing me as my face settled a neutral mask and my jaw tensed slightly. Did he seriously just ask for a bath without bubbles?
I kept my gaze on him for a while, the silence overpowering us as I glared at him and he stared back with as much intensity, the cool white lights reflecting addictively off his emerald hues. Then, I slowly tipped my hand as I watched him, never once breaking eye contact as I tilted the entire bottle down, feeling the weight of it begin to decrease as the liquid flowed into the tub.
