TYRELL

I was on my self given lunch break. This time I didn't have stake, I took 2 pieces of fried spicy chicken and Kale salad to balance all those calories. A lot of people expected me to eat a lot of sushi. I think they believe it's a rich-guy-thing to love sushi, but I really did not. I hated it even. For some weird reason it always made me feel sick.

My attention turned to my phone because I heard my ringtone. Remember the piece of work I told you about? It was her calling. "Ginger, what do you want?" She was probably calling for something insignificant. She always did.

I heard her sigh through the phone. "You should actually feel joy when you see my name pop up on your screen." I instantly imagined her rolling her eyes at me. She loved doing that.

I didn't like that she was wasting my short break on this. "You gon' tell me why you called or what?"

"Oh shut it, you really think I wanna be talking to you?" Oh God.. where did I go when you were handing out respectful little sisters.

"Ginger, I don't have time for this." I really didn't. If she wasn't going to help me out here, she should not be disturbing me though.

"I only called to tell you to come for dinner tonight," I heard from the other side of the phone. "Mom said to tell you to come."

"Wait-what? Why?" I had no clue what was happening. I had things to do tonight even, I wasn't free.

"You forgot dad's birthday, didn't you?" It felt like a light bulb just came on in my head. My eyes grew slightly wider. I really did forget. How could I forget that? That definitely wasn't an insignificant reason to call.

"Oh my.." was all I could say at that point.

She laughed like she had just heard a joke or something. Well in her defense, I did sound like a joke right now. "I knew you'd forget it."

"I thought the only thing this week was Thanksgiving."

"Well that sounds like a you problem. Just get your ass over here by 8pm." She didn't have any other thing to say, nor did she let me say any other thing. She hung up on me.

I called for Henry, because if I was really doing this dinner stuff, I had some things to reschedule . "Yes sir," he answered as quick as he could.

"What do I have after planned after 8pm?" I asked

He scrolled through the iPad where all my plans were written. He looked back up, probably having an answer to my question. "You have a conference with Mr Dubois for your brand name change." He explained the best he could.

"Oh okay." That was something I could easily reschedule, thank God it wasn't some event. "Have that rescheduled for tomorrow."

"Tomorrow is a little tight and you said you needed to get home early." Of course. Chanelle's day.

"What about the day after tomorrow?"

"That's Thanksgiving."

"What about the day after that?"

"I'll have to call Mr Dubois to see if he's good with that." Obviously, we'll have to call him. I let him leave to make the call. He came back in after barely 2 minutes. Well that was short. "Mr Dubois said he wouldn't be in California by then." Henry always brought more bad news than good to me. I should have known Dubois would be heading back to France soon.

"I get off work tomorrow by 8pm, don't I?" I had to know to see if there could be any possibility of fitting the conference in there.

"If everything goes according to the schedule, yes," He confirmed.

The conference shouldn't take long anyways, so I could still make it home in time for Chanelle. "You can reschedule it for tomorrow then. Call Mr Dubois to let him know about the changes." Thank God that was over. Rescheduling was hard, especially when there's barely any space to fit anything into and even if there were, a lot of people I had to meet had their own schedule which was also not easy on them and having them switch up their plans because of me was a little inconsiderate, but family comes first.
