This is the longest chapter so far.
CHANELLE
Today started off good. I was happy, Tyrell didn't forget my birthday and he did promise to come home early, so today was not going to be as bad as I thought it would. 8:30 was not too much to ask, was it? Even if he returns by 9:30, I wasn't going to be mad, he tried anyways.
I had to rush to work because I was really running late. I got to work when it was past 8am and I knew I'd be summoned by my boss for some questioning. She didn't see me come in, but I still had to sign in. Hopefully she'd acknowledge that it's my birthday and let me off the hook.
As I walked into the doctor's lounge, I was welcomed with a lot of wishes and gifts. It was always like this every year, everyone's given a little special treatment on their birthdays.
My joy was short-lived when I heard the landline ring. That was definitely my boss calling. I had to go up to her office soon.
I took the elevator up to her floor and as much as I hoped it'll just be to wish me a happy birthday, the logical part of me knew I was going to get my ass questioned, besides she was always professional and didn't like to even get too informal with any of us.
I walked into her office and put a professional slight smile on my face. "You called for me." I said plainly.. should I have wished her a good day?
She looked up from the book her face was buried into. She scrutinized me before she said anything and boy that was intimidating. "Good morning Miss D'light." Yes I took my husband's last name, but here at work, I was still called D'light.
"May I have a sit?"
"You may not." She shut me down plainly. I was just like 15 minutes late. It wasn't that deep was it? Mrs Black wasn't a bad person to work under. She was just mean, that's all. As long as you're not tardy, she's fine.
I mouthed an "okay." I don't really know if she heard it though. "I know I'm late and I'm sorry." I felt that was the right thing to say.
She rose an eyebrow. "You're late?" I didn't really get what was happening.. did she not know that already? "Today is your birthday isn't it?" That was why she called me up here?
"Oh, yes, it is." I did know she didn't hate me since internship, but I didn't know she liked me. Well she wasn't one to show feelings anyways.
She gave a slight quick smile. The smile left as soon as it came. "Okay, the next brain surgery that arises after Saturday will be yours to handle-" My eyes grew wider after hearing that. I was going to have more than one neurosurgery in a year. There was no definite date, but at least I had it in the bag.. yayyy.
"Oh my God, thank you!" I blurted out, cutting her off. She noticed I was overjoyed, but she wasn't done talking, so I put myself together to let her finish.
"Plus, I'll have your gift mailed first thing tomorrow." I suppose that was the last thing she had to say.
Honestly, I was more excited about the neurosurgery than I was about the gift she mentioned. "Can I hug you?" I blurted again, I so needed an off switch at that point.
"No you cannot." That reply was quick. I didn't really mind, I left.
Work today was really good though. I was all smiles throughout the day. I didn't have a lot to do anyways.
I really didn't know how time went by so fast today, all I knew was that my shift was over and I had to get back home with my friends.
After approximately 30 minutes on the road, I really didn't know why the traffic had been so bad lately. I came home with Lena, Dean and Carter. I already had Kandace come over. Yes, Kandace is my sister.
It was still 7pm, so we kind of still had time. I had three boxes of pizza ordered and Millie made spicy tuna rolls too, she knew it was my favorite type of sushi.
All the food was placed on the table by Bob for anyone who wanted some, he left for the kitchen afterwards.
Kandace had a comment as usual. "I've never seen anything as big as this man's pants." Everyone laughed at her rude sense of humor.
"You guys make him wear that?" Of course Dean would relate to that.
"No, we don't." We don't make him wear that, he chose to. Yes, we had uniforms, but the sizes were really not of any concern to us.
We had a lot of things to say to one another. There was always something to talk about when we were together and Kandace was one to blend in really quick. It wasn't her first time meeting my friends anyways.

It was getting pretty late and all I could think of now was where Tyrell was. It was past 9pm and he wasn't here yet. Kandace and Carter already left and Dean and Lena were about to leave too.Just then, I received that annoying text I did every night. I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up.
I walked Dean and Lena out, there was no need in keeping them here any longer, Tyrell was not showing up anytime soon. Lena left first. While Dean still stood there, next to his car.
Why was he looking at me now, this is not the time for his goofiness. "You don't seem happy." I didn't when it started getting late, but when Tyrell sent that message, I got vexed.
I sucked in a shallow breath. "Coz I'm not," I said truthfully and that just made him raise a brow. "I don't wanna talk about it." I really didn't and Dean did not seem like he'll understand anyways.
"Problems with Tyrell?" I heard him ask. I don't know how he could have guessed that good.
"Perhaps." I didn't confirm nor deny.
"Wanna talk about it?"
"I really don't."
"That's your problem, we're talking about it." Why did he bother asking if he wasn't going to listen to me? "So, what's up?"
"It's not a big problem though, he just has no time for me anymore." That was all I was willing to say at that moment.
He turned to me instantly. "No wonder you're not glowing as you used to." When he said that it took some seconds to understand what he was talking about. "No time to sexercise." He laughed. "I mean look at me, I'm to die for."
I rolled my eyes at him immediately. "Just get going, you've said enough."
He resisted the push I gave him towards his car. "You sure he's not cheating?" That was what I feared they would say if I had told them.
"Oh, no. I trust him that much, he wouldn't." Tyrell was nothing like that.
"Okay then, honestly, I think you should talk to him. Try making him understand." Yeah, coz I haven't already tried that. He was quick to notice my eye roll and probably realized I've tried that. "Well if he doesn't listen, then you should give him a dose of his medicine."
"That only happens in movies Dean." That had never popped up in my mind, it'll never work anyways.
"If you say so," was the last thing he said before giving me a hug and getting into his car. "Happy birthday by the way."
"Try not going to the club this night again." That was the reply I gave him. "You may meet another Bailey or Hailey... Or maybe Paisley," I teased.
"It turns out her name was Bailey, so I did get it right." He started his car and started moving.
"Just go home." I yelled so he would hear me.
