slight tw: small panic attack - very brief, however it's still there

I didn’t end up replying to Clay’s.. Or, Dream’s comment. Instead, I let out an annoyed grunt and flopped onto my bed. I fell asleep almost immediately but when I woke up I had the least amount of pleasure to see his comment blowing up on the video. People even went to twitter to remind me of his comment. It really wasn’t the most ideal thing to wake up to, especially since it regarded the man who I desperately did not wish to remember existed.

Cat yelled at me about his empty food bowl the minute I stumbled out of my room. I could only groan in response as I went to my cupboard to see if I had any extra snacks. Of course, I was met with empty shelves and solidified crumbs. Another groan escaped my throat, shutting the cupboard in defeat and not even bothering to check the fridge. I glanced down at Cat, his eyes still just as round and sad as they were yesterday. My face softened and I reached down to pet him which he gladly accepted.

I found my way back into my room so I could get ready to head to the store. I changed into an old, grey hoodie and a pair of black jeans, something I usually didn’t wear. It felt weird to wear such clothing as I had gotten so used to being confined in my own space, but I chose to push away the discomfort and put my shoes on. I didn’t really bother to check my reflection in the mirror because I knew it would discourage me from leaving my home, so I grabbed my wallet and keys before walking towards the front of the house.

Just as I went to swing the door open and walk outside into the cold, autumn air, I heard a small yelp. I snapped my head upwards to see a familiar, blonde idiot stumbling backwards. “Oh my god! I wasn’t expecting you to open the door like that!” He let out a tea kettle wheeze as he rubbed the side of his head. After I shut the door behind me, I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest, pursing my lips to add to my irritation. “Why are you here?” I asked coldly. He only laughed some more. Shut up, dude. What’s so funny?

“I just wanted to stop in and say hi. What are you doing out here?” Clay asked, a smug smirk on his face. He was looking directly at me, so I was forced to internally roll my eyes at him once again. “I’m going to the store right now. I need cat food,” I answered reluctantly, averting my eyes to the ground and pushing past him. I thought I would gain some distance from him, but my short legs proved me wrong as his footsteps bounced happily behind me. “You have a cat?” He asked, his voice chirpy and pretty. Ew, did I just say that?

I sighed, letting my arms slip down to my sides as I continued to walk towards the supermarket down the way. “Yeah, I do,” I muttered, his presence making me want to recoil into myself. Even though he walked about a foot to the side of me, I still felt his warmth radiating from him in spite of the cold weather. “That’s cool, what’s his- or her- name?” He questioned as he put his hands in the pocket of his hoodie. I looked up at him, a glare of suspicion evident in my eyes that I was sure he picked up on.

“I never really gave him a name. I just call him Cat,” I shrugged, letting my eyes focus themselves in front of me again. When Clay let out another high pitched wheeze, I snapped my attention back to him with a confused look on my face. Does this guy just think everything I do is funny? Does he just take any opportunity to laugh at me? “What’s so funny?” He let out a loud laugh and held his stomach as if it would help control himself. “Cat..? Seriously? What kind of name-” He tried to speak but interrupted himself with another contagious wheeze. I shook my head, heat rushing into my face.

I decided not to respond to him as we neared the supermarket. Luckily, the parking lot was practically empty as we walked through it to get to the entrance. Clay had finally calmed down as we entered the building through sliding glass doors, the comforting rush of a heater engulfing us. I immediately turned my attention to a rack of baskets and grabbed one, ignoring the questionable look the taller man gave me.
