BLUE
I had nowhere to go to. Not home. No. Not yet. I had some extra clothes in my backpack with my credit cards. I carried it everywhere. I knew this day was going to come and I've been prepared my whole life.
I decided to settle down at a coffee shop downtown for lunch. I didn't know who to call. Mom? No, she'd be worried sick. Lisa? No, school's still in session. Shit! My cousin? No, they have their own issues. Arrgh! It's all Jake's fault! No, it's all my fault for tusting that jerk!
"You haven't ordered anything yet ma'am," a waiter came by to inform me.
"I'm sorry, please some chicken nuggets with fries and salad." I needed strength.
"It's coming right up," he said, as he wrote it down in his notebook.
I think I'll send Mom a message, Iying that there was a trip in school and I left without informing her. I had to give an excuse.
"Here's your order." He said placing the food on my table.
"Thank you."
Think fast. Think fast. I could feel the adrenaline pumping into my system. I still had strength to run. I could move to another town. But running? I didn't want to run away from them anymore! I couldn't take it. I knew what I had to do.
"Blue? Is that you?"
"Why are you whispering Stephen? Why did you call me?"
"The school's a mess. Those guys were still looking for you. Tell me Blue, who are they? How were you able to fight someone three times your size?"
I knew I owed Stephen a lot. I didn't mind telling the secret anyway. The whole school might know already.
"It's a long story Ven. I just- I can't talk about it on phone. They'd track me."
"Who?"
"I'd tell you later. When we meet in a-"
"Can you meet me at my house?"
"What? No! It's too dangerous. Your parents, your sister..."
"Then let's meet at Childe. The restaurant downtown."
I thought for a moment. I'm close already, but, "It's too open."
"There's a back table for meetings. I could book one."
"Stephen, save yourself the stress-"
"Please?" I didn't know why this guy was acting this way, but he gave me hope. I thought telling Jake would, but now I feel like Stephen should have been the one I told first. But then, he'll be in danger.
"Your life will be at stake Ven."
"If it's for you, I don't think I mind. Four p.m."
"Stephen..."
"I'll see you soon, Blue." The line went dead.
I had a feeling Stephen liked me, but I didn't think he actually did. I guessed it was because I was the one who gave him a tour in the school, but now, he's being so sweet. I wiped the tears that threatened to fall, and decided to leave. I still needed some materials to execute my plan.
After I bought the ropes, scissors, butter, oil, and other materials I needed, I booked a room in one of the hotels and kept them there. I prepared for the meeting with Ven and decided to leave the hotel for a while. I carried a handbag, with some escape materials in it. My sneakers had a pepper spray in it. My belt had a small, but sharp kitchen knife. My hair band had its own weapon. So, I was ready.
